AGENT AGENT_ISMAEL AIRSHIP_OFFICER MAN OFFICER OFFICER_CEBRERA OFFICER_LEZA OFFICER_PENA OFFICER_ROYCROFT POLICE_OFFICER SPECIAL_AGENT_ISMAEL SPECIAL_AGENT_TOM SUPERVISORY_SPECIAL_AGENT_DENNIS SUPERVISORY_SPECIAL_AGENT_JEFF SUPERVISORY_SPECIAL_AGENT_STEVE TASK_FORCE_OFFICER_DAVE TRAVELER UC POLICE OFFICER Wanna lay them flat? POLICE OFFICER Yeah, so this dog can run through them. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE It's supposed to be candles but some of them were broken in transit. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE The package came from Mexico, 10 candles. That's kind of odd to be sending to a residence. So, CBP went ahead and contacted us to see if we would look at the package because it looks suspicious. Kind of break open the wax. This looks weird. It's supposed to just be wax but this is the inside of it. It's wrapped with either a condom or something. And then you have saran wrap. Let's cut this open. I can smell it. OFFICER CEBRERA There you go, right there. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE Yeah. Crystal. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE What we're gonna do now is put a little piece in this NIK test kit. Shake it up. Let it mix in with the product that's in there. Then the middle one and then you'll see immediately how it pops blue. MAN Oh, yeah. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE Which gives a positive indicator for methamphetamine. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE It's approximately 8.2 kilograms (18 pounds). SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT STEVE Meth production's changed a lot. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT STEVE The super meth labs are down in Mexico. They ship it here in liquid, powder, sometimes it's actually mixed in with diesel and then they have to separate it out. So, you'll still see conversion labs but they're not actually producing the methamphetamine. They're just separating it out and then making it into that crystal form that they wanna see here. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE We're gonna repackage it. Get it ready for the delivery. We're doing a controlled delivery. We have an undercover that's gonna be delivering our package. We're seeing a huge amount of meth coming into the Atlanta area. We've had large loads come in tractor trailers. We've had shipments coming through the mail. So when we work these kinds of investigations, we're not here to just take off the small supplier, our objective is to move up the chain and ladder hopefully get to that top level maybe a drug trafficking organization or a head of a cartel. All right, let's roll out. OFC. NEEDHAM This is the international mail facility where 60% of all mail comes into the United States. OFC. KHZAM Every piece of mail that comes off an international flight we have jurisdiction to search. My dog's name is Argo. He's a five-year-old Belgian Malinois. He's trained on narcotics, human detection, and fentanyl. Good boy. Come on, buddy. OFC. NEEDHAM We're looking for narcotics, fish and wildlife, agriculture, or people ordering stuff off of the dark web. That's definitely powder. If it's prohibited we're gonna seize it. We might destroy it. It all depends on what it is. This right here is coming off as fen acid, a cutting agent for cocaine. They'll use this with cocaine so this little amount go to this amount. OFC. KHZAM Come on, buddy. Argo pretty much puts in my hours. Eight hours a day. Many times longer. Never complains. Never talks back. Ready? Come. Here. Good boy. OFC. KHZAM Good boy! OFC. KHZAM We've got an alert on the boxes in this area. So, what we're gonna do is we're gonna put them in a line and we're gonna see exactly which box contains his trained odor, um, narcotics in other words. Good boy. Come on. Come on. Good boy. Okay. So, definitely the alert is on that box. SUP. GROB All righty. Hopefully there's something good. SUP. GROB Oh! Ecstasy! OFC. KHZAM Good boy, buddy. SUP. GROB This is fish food but it's factory sealed. Inside are pills of ecstasy. As soon as I opened the container there was a sweet smell that comes off the ecstasy. All right. Now, we're gonna take it into our detention room, process the seizure, get a weight on it and go from there. POLICE OFFICER Hey, I'm gonna be at the end. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE I'm rolling in that way. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE That's our target location. That's where UC is gonna drop our package off. So, all our guys are getting set up in the area, different roads so we can come in from different angles if we need to. POLICE OFFICER All right, surveillance van is at 100%. POLICE OFFICER Ready to rock and roll. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE Copy. POLICE OFFICER Yeah, I think you could go ahead and roll in, if you're ready. POLICE OFFICER All right, the UC is moving forward. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE All right, van's in the driveway. We won't have visual at the door. All right so UC's got the door. Dog's barking. POLICE OFFICER Door's open. POLICE OFFICER Male individual at the door accepting the package. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE All right, UC's away walking towards the van and the package is inside. UC He was speaking to somebody else in the house. UC Said, "It's Mama's package." TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE Oh, okay. I'll relay that. He signed for the package and was talking to somebody else in the house and said, "Hey, this is your Mama's package." POLICE OFFICER Copy that. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE We believe that the man that signed for the package is not the intended recipient, so we're gonna maintain surveillance on the house until someone that we believe to be named "Mama" arrives to pick up the package. And then we have the authorization through the search warrant to go in the house to retrieve the package. But now, it's kinda just a waiting game. We gotta keep an eye on the door. POLICE OFFICER How we doing here? POLICE OFFICER Everyone catching up? POLICE OFFICER 10-4. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT DENNIS Copy. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT DENNIS Today, we're following a vehicle that entered through the San Ysidro Port of Entry. We have intel that the vehicle was loaded with an unknown quantity of methamphetamine. POLICE OFFICER I got eyes on our target SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT DENNIS Yeah, roger that, just caught it. The third one ahead of us right now. AGENT ISMAEL She just passed those gas stations right there? SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT DENNIS Going under the bridge right now. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT DENNIS The white pickup truck. We're following this driver to determine where the narcotics were headed and get as high in the organization as we possibly can. POLICE OFFICER Continuing number three lane. POLICE OFFICER 65 miles an hour. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT DENNIS The individuals that are recruited to drive the narcotics are generally the lowest level members, but as the controlled substances make it further into the United States, the members of the organization that come in contact with that are higher level members. Those individuals have more connections and that can be the starting point for an in-depth investigation into the organization. POLICE OFFICER White pickup truck off to your side. POLICE OFFICER I got them. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT DENNIS She's right next to this truck. POLICE OFFICER 10-4. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF We have a pretty heavy team today. We have air surveillance up. So hopefully we can manage this well and keep everybody safe. POLICE OFFICER All right, she's setting up for a left turn at this exit. POLICE OFFICER I'm good, I got them. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT DENNIS We're heading generally north, going Los Angeles or Orange County. But we don't know how it's gonna be transferred to the next level of the organization. That could be seeing this driver hand keys off to someone else or seeing this individual drive to a stash house. POLICE OFFICER A smaller car. POLICE OFFICER Just slowed down next to her. POLICE OFFICER And then pulled in front of her. POLICE OFFICER And she pulled behind them. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT DENNIS You're thinking that vehicle is with it? POLICE OFFICER Yes, confirmed. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Sounds like she's gonna follow this vehicle that just made contact with her. We're assuming it's the person that she's receiving instructions from. POLICE OFFICER All right, she's making a left turn now. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Hopefully she's taking us to. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Where this vehicle is supposed to extract the contraband. AIRSHIP OFFICER All right, he's walking back and forth. AIRSHIP OFFICER Between his car and the pickup. POLICE OFFICER If they hop in the truck, get ready to go. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF These subjects are right here up on the right it looks like. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Stopped off at some cafe. We can't just drive in there. We don't wanna burn the surveillance. Luckily, we do have air support today to keep an eye on them. AIRSHIP OFFICER All right, I think he's walking back now. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF We are waiting to see if they extract. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF The contraband out of the vehicle into possibly another vehicle. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF So we'll see how this plays out. AIRSHIP OFFICER Looks like the doors are closed. AIRSHIP OFFICER And she's in the driver's side. AIRSHIP OFFICER He's into the passenger side of the pickup. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF The male that met up with her is now in the truck. AIRSHIP OFFICER Car's backing out. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Oh, boy. AIRSHIP OFFICER The truck is away. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Truck is away. POLICE OFFICER Our target vehicle is now on the move again. AIRSHIP OFFICER She's now northbound. POLICE OFFICER All right, we're moving up and stand by. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT DENNIS At this point, we've come into the next county north. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Operationally, we transfer responsibility to the LA office. We're all on the same page, so the decisions are the same, it's just they're the ones making the call, then we drop into a support role. We still don't know exactly where we're headed, but it could be a stash house, and then they will offload the contraband there. In stash houses, we come across a lot of weapons. This isn't just messing around, it's not a game. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF There's loss of life from all the criminal activity that surrounds drugs. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT DENNIS So they just got off right here. We'll see where it goes. AIRSHIP OFFICER All right. She's making a left turn now. AIRSHIP OFFICER Moving westbound. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF We have a very rural area here. AIRSHIP OFFICER Slowing up about halfway down. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF It's going to be a house or a warehouse. Somewhere they can just pull this vehicle in and extract the contraband. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT DENNIS Copy. AIRSHIP OFFICER They're taking a right-hand turn. AIRSHIP OFFICER On a dirt road. AIRSHIP OFFICER That dirt road dead ends. AIRSHIP OFFICER It goes to a few residences back here SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Oh, boy. POLICE OFFICER All right, airship, you can get a better view. AIRSHIP OFFICER This place looks kinda like a junkyard. AIRSHIP OFFICER There's several vehicles and R.V.'s and such. AIRSHIP OFFICER Parked around there. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF This is like an episode from Breaking Bad. This is what this is turning into. AIRSHIP OFFICER There's somebody walking out of the house. AIRSHIP OFFICER Towards the pickup. AIRSHIP OFFICER White male, burgundy shirt, green pants. AIRSHIP OFFICER Second guy just walked over to join them. AIRSHIP OFFICER Short white male. AIRSHIP OFFICER Jacket, blue jeans, green hat. AIRSHIP OFFICER A lot of activity. AIRSHIP OFFICER Back where the gas tank is. AIRSHIP OFFICER They're underneath that white truck SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Oh, oh, there we go. AIRSHIP OFFICER It looks like this is where it's going to be offloaded. POLICE OFFICER Yeah, that's it. SUP. GROB An average seizure here at JFK would probably be, like, one of these containers. Right now we're up to two, four, six, eight, ten, twelve. OFC. KHZAM We're gonna use test kits to verify that it is in fact ecstasy. A very small amount is all you need. OFC. KHZAM Positive result for MDMA and/or ecstasy is gonna be basically black which is what we have here. SUP. GROB We have seen the fish food containers before but normally it's not this quantity. Smugglers use all different kinds of concealment techniques. If they think they can get it by us, they'll give it a try. But, they can't beat our dogs. So, we got six keys of ecstasy. SUP. GROB That's a lot of ecstasy. OFC. KHZAM Hopefully we get some arrests out of it. SUP. WALTER Listen, I'm reviewing that case folder, on the opioid investigation you got going on. HSI is Homeland Security Investigations. SUP. WALTER We are the principle investigative arm for the Department of Homeland Security. CBP and HSI is like the one two punch. OFFICER So this was partially a business trip? SUP. WALTER Customs and Border Protection are basically the uniform cops. They are the ones that the public usually deals with. OFFICER How are you today? SUP. WALTER So, when you look at HSI we are the detectives. OFFICER MDMA? OFC. KHZAM Yeah. SUP. WALTER So, they turn over the information, the evidence, and we take the lead at that point. SPECIAL AGENT TOM We had a package come through our international JFK mail branch of MDMA. We're gonna attempt to deliver that package. SUP. WALTER What's the location? SPECIAL AGENT TOM Location is in lower Manhattan. The financial district. This also might be a couple accepting these packages. SUP. WALTER Did you send another recon team this morning? SPECIAL AGENT TOM Yeah, they're on site. SUP. WALTER Okay. We're expecting this one to go kind of smooth? SPECIAL AGENT TOM Hopefully. SUP. WALTER All right. SPECIAL AGENT TOM Um, obviously, you know, just like any other controlled delivery there's certain things that can happen. We'll prepare for it and everybody is all on the same page right now. SUP. WALTER Let's get out there. SPECIAL AGENT TOM Okay. SUP. WALTER We always hope for everything to go according to plan but you always got to plan for the unexpected. That's why when we do these operations, we go out in numbers. 'Cause if the bad guys got more than you guys, it's not a good day for us. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE We've been sitting outside this residence for several hours now waiting for somebody named Mama. If Mama comes to pick up the package, we plan to follow her vehicle in hopes of seeing her either pass the package off to someone else or take it directly to a residence. POLICE OFFICER I've got a car that just flew past the house and then hit reverse and backed up and it stopped in the driveway from what I can tell. POLICE OFFICER Driver getting out. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE Looks like a male. All right, so possibly a heavyset male got out of the Explorer and is walking inside. I thought it was gonna be a woman, that's weird. I mean, I don't know. I guess maybe she's female. That might be Mama. POLICE OFFICER The front door is open but I can't really see who it is or what they're doing. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE She's walking back out right now with the box. POLICE OFFICER Box appears to be moving. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE It's go time. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE It's go time. [bleep] I can't see. That might be Mama. POLICE OFFICER It's gonna be a dark-colored Ford Expedition only one working back light. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE A dark-colored Ford pulled into our target house and I can see that he had a box in his hand. POLICE OFFICER All right, he pulled into a gas station right there. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE So, we are doing mobile surveillance right now following that vehicle. Apparently, getting some gas. We wanna keep that down. Let me just get some gas. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE Oh, it is a female. That must be Mama. It is Mama. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE I'm in the gas station at a gas pump. So, I'll let you know when she pulls out. A couple winners. Firing up a joint right there. That's another good part of the job. I mean, they're smoking weed right next to us. We see exchanges at other locations. We're sitting there watching something else going on. Can't really do anything with this. All right, she's coming out. She's in the car. All right, here we go. Let's see where she's headed next. SUP. WALTER I love the. SPECIAL AGENT TOM Skyline. SUP. WALTER When you come in. Only thing that's missing is the towers. SUP. WALTER 9/11, that's when the, uh, you know, all our agencies got put together and created the, uh, Department of Homeland Security. At 9/11, I was the duty agent with the United States Customs Service that morning. So, I was sitting at my desk and the first plane hit. It shook our entire building. I mean, I, it was like, it was like an earthquake. At that moment, you know, I thought that, uh, yeah, this is it. In law enforcement, you know, when you say good-bye to your family that day and you go to work, you know, there's always that feeling you might not come home. Today might be that last day. So, I try not to take things for granted. SPECIAL AGENT TOM Looks like we're coming up here. So, uh, you can drop me off wherever. Here you go? SUP. WALTER Yeah. SPECIAL AGENT TOM All right. SUP. WALTER All units, all units, be advised, Tom is, uh, going to the target location. OFFICER Good, copy. SUP. WALTER Once that parcel's been introduced, it's a live set, and then hopefully the target, uh, it, uh, it, uh, shows up. SPECIAL AGENT TOM The doorman made a call to the target. SPECIAL AGENT TOM Letting him know the package is there. SUP. WALTER All right. Roger that, 10-4. Be advised, everyone. SPECIAL AGENT TOM The guy's right there. SPECIAL AGENT TOM He's a white male. SPECIAL AGENT TOM It looks like he had, like, orange hair. SPECIAL AGENT TOM He had glasses on. SPECIAL AGENT TOM He had a baseball cap on, a blue one. SPECIAL AGENT TOM He was dressed all in blue. SUP. WALTER All in blue? All units, be advised ,we might have a possible, uh, target. SPECIAL AGENT TOM He didn't take the package though. SPECIAL AGENT TOM Walter, just a heads-up. SPECIAL AGENT TOM The target and the girl, both of them have been confirmed. SPECIAL AGENT TOM They are actually sitting inside next to our, uh, street team guys. SUP. WALTER Roger that. Hopefully they'll go for the package. Both subjects that we were interested in are on the set right now. So, yeah. The hearts are racing 'cause what we don't wanna do is miss this and we don't wanna spook the targets. It's almost like the cat and mouse game, right? So, we gotta play it cool enough, but stay on top of them with good eyes on them. This might be going down pretty quickly. OFFICER PENA Where are you going? TRAVELER Laredo. OFFICER PENA [speaking foreign language] Go over to the next window. TRAVELER [speaking foreign language] Thank you. OFFICER PENA [speaking foreign language] One of my biggest things that I look for is how new the trailer is, the crossings, how often do they cross. OFFICER PENA [speaking foreign language] Where are you coming from? Other than that, I also focus a lot on the companies that are transporting the actual commodity. OFFICER PENA [speaking foreign language] Good day. OFFICER PENA [speaking foreign language] Normally when you cross, you do it for a company or what? OFFICER PENA [speaking foreign language] What are you normally bringing with you? So I've been running some queries and looking into the commodity he's bringing across. And it shows that it's coming from a city in Mexico that's known for its cartel activities. And it's going out of state to another city that's known really big for its trafficking of narcotics. OFFICER PENA Sir, go to the X-rays, please. POLICE OFFICER Is it that one? POLICE OFFICER Yeah. OFFICER LEZA The primary officer told us that he selected one to look further into. It's manifested as acrylic waterproof paint going to Georgia. Probably more than 500 buckets or more, I can't tell. OFFICER LEZA [speaking foreign language] Ready, Chuy? Let's see what it looks like. We have an X-ray van that we can individually scan these buckets to see if there's some kind of narcotics bundled inside. You want to help me check them on that side? Check these two out. All right, here goes one. So far, this shipment looks pretty legit. But being the fact that it is buckets and there have been previous seizures of narcotics in buckets. There we go. The next step would be to physically open up these buckets and check out what's inside. Next one. All right. So, as I picked up this one, I noticed that this one was a little bit lighter than the other ones, and they shouldn't be. They should all weigh the same. Oh, no. That's definitely not an acrylic paint, I'll tell you that. AIRSHIP OFFICER There's multiple people on the property. AIRSHIP OFFICER A lot of activity going back and forth. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Our target vehicle is not moving anymore and it's stationary here. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF From the intel that we're getting, this address where the truck landed, it's got prior hits for narcotic smuggling, so sounds like a winner for us. POLICE OFFICER Ground to air. POLICE OFFICER Does it look like there's any type of building in there? POLICE OFFICER Where they can process it there? AIRSHIP OFFICER Definitely. AIRSHIP OFFICER They have tons of R.V.'s. AIRSHIP OFFICER A few out-buildings. AIRSHIP OFFICER And there's a single wide trailer. SPECIAL AGENT ISMAEL All right, guys, so it looks like the vehicle is possibly going to be getting offloaded here soon. AGENT Wait till they start working on the truck and drop the tank, whatever the case is. AGENT The goal is to confirm that contents are being taken out. AGENT And then try to see where that is then taken. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Since it's on the fly, we have to gear up pretty quickly here because anything could happen in the next few seconds here. POLICE OFFICER All right, we're rolling. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF We are set on this location to conduct enforcement activity here. POLICE OFFICER Riverside HSI, you're ready to go? POLICE OFFICER Yeah, 10-4. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF If we see any contraband being extracted out of our target vehicle, we're making our approach. AIRSHIP OFFICER There's multiple people on the property. AIRSHIP OFFICER I do not have eyes on any right now. POLICE OFFICER Copy. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF There's a lot of unknowns. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF We have no idea who the people we're encountering are, and then yeah, very rural area here. So it's a very difficult safety concern for all of us. AIRSHIP OFFICER We've got two people out walking. AIRSHIP OFFICER Over towards the vehicles. AIRSHIP OFFICER They're back by the gas tank. AIRSHIP OFFICER They're underneath the rear of that white truck. AIRSHIP OFFICER Two people bringing a big container. POLICE OFFICER Copy that. POLICE OFFICER Stand by, one. AIRSHIP OFFICER Looks like they are siphoning it right now. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Whoa, whoa. There you go. POLICE OFFICER Where's she at? POLICE OFFICER She just turned into the apartments. POLICE OFFICER Female getting out, nothing in her hands, going into the apartment. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE All right, Steve. We're in position. POLICE OFFICER Okay, we'll be in there shortly. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE Yeah, so that building straight out in front of us, that's Mama's Expedition right in front of it. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE So, we followed the female from the target location and she pulled into an apartment complex. But right now, she still has the package in her car. So, it looks like our guys are gonna actually approach the apartment and see if they can make contact with the female that picked up the package. Oh! Door's open. OFFICER LEZA You guys see that? So those are going to be the ones that actually has an acrylic paint. We opened up the buckets and we noticed that some of them have a white color to them and some have a clear liquid. But can it be water or something else? Yeah, maybe, right? So let me get a test kit right now. So you break one of these, each one of these [indistinct] there's three of them. From left to right, and then they should have the, after you break the last one, you should have the reaction. There it is. You see the blue right there? It's letting you know that it's positive for the properties of methamphetamines. Told you. OFFICER ROYCROFT If I'm lazy, I'm just going to check the one on the top or the first ones in the back of the, in the back of the trailer. OFFICER LEZA Yeah. Yeah. OFFICER ROYCROFT That's why we offloaded all of the trailer to make sure we could do a good inspection. OFFICER LEZA Yeah. OFFICER LEZA These are 5-gallon buckets, right? You know, so these guys what they'll do, they'll mix it, they'll put one or two buckets in the whole pallet. If you think about it, one or two buckets, that's all they really need to get across. We're going to check all of them, make sure which ones have acrylic and which have narcotics. So we're going to have to physically open each bucket. There's about what, about 24 pallets. So, yeah. OFFICER ROYCROFT Times 32 buckets. OFFICER LEZA So we're looking, like, a long night ahead of us SUP. WALTER Right now, the surveillance scope team has got eyes on both subjects. SUP. WALTER So, we'll wait and see. We'll wait and see if both subjects pick up the parcel. OFFICER The female is walking away. SUP. WALTER Stand by. OFFICER It looks like the male went inside the lobby area right now. OFFICER He took the package. OFFICER No, he's walking, he must be going towards the elevator! OFFICER He must be going towards the elevator. SUP. WALTER We're going. We're going. OFFICER Yes, sir! Yeah, he took the package. He went upstairs. SUP. WALTER Roger that. Roger that. Be alert. OFFICER Out back? OFFICER Which way? OFFICER They're out the back? OFFICER Go, go, go, go! go! SUP. WALTER Go! Go! OFFICER Excuse me! OFFICER Out of the way! Out of the way! Out of the way! Out of the way! OFFICER Where'd he go? SUP. WALTER He's dressed all in blue. He's dressed all in blue. OFFICER Go, go. SPECIAL AGENT TOM Got him? OFFICER We got him. OFFICER All right. SUP. WALTER Our main target, we got him trying to exit the building into a van that was waiting for him in the back, in the entrance of the building. The, uh, target's wife. Anyone know where she's at? OFFICER She's in custody. She's in the back of my Jeep right now. SUP. WALTER All right. Roger that. OFFICER Yeah, put him in SUP. WALTER Everyone's been apprehended. OFFICER I haven't ran that fast in a long time. OFFICER Nice job, man. SUP. WALTER Today, we helped stop the flow of narcotics. We disrupted this network, saved lives, and hopefully by the end of the day we'll have a better understanding of where this is all coming from and stop that flow from this one supplier completely. No one got hurt. In my books, this goes down as a successful operation today. POLICE OFFICER All right, airship, we're good with you. POLICE OFFICER Coming in a little lower if you can get a better view. AIRSHIP OFFICER Copy that. AIRSHIP OFFICER They're definitely offloading this white truck right now. POLICE OFFICER Copy that. POLICE OFFICER And are they still outside? AIRSHIP OFFICER I got one guy back and forth. AIRSHIP OFFICER He's carrying the jugs that they filled up. AIRSHIP OFFICER Now let's see where he goes. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF This is gonna go down pretty quick. AIRSHIP OFFICER He carried it inside this make-shift, white out-building. AIRSHIP OFFICER And now all the. AIRSHIP OFFICER People are in there doing something on it. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF That's the lab. AIRSHIP OFFICER That's the one you want. POLICE OFFICER All right, we're on it. Commit. Let's go. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Move in. Move in. POLICE OFFICER Police! Let’s go, let’s go! POLICE OFFICER Hands! Hands! Put them up! Let me see your hands! Come towards me! Do it now! POLICE OFFICER You got him? POLICE OFFICER Yeah, we got him. POLICE OFFICER We’re good. POLICE OFFICER Can you take care of this guy here and cuff him up? POLICE OFFICER How many do you have detained? POLICE OFFICER We’ve got two. POLICE OFFICER A guy and a female. POLICE OFFICER I’ve also got two in custody back here. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF So far, we have six in custody right now. POLICE OFFICER They’ve confirmed there’s. POLICE OFFICER One more suspect outstanding. POLICE OFFICER Within the vicinity guys. FYI. POLICE OFFICER Ground to air. POLICE OFFICER Keep a view there in case we got runners. AIRSHIP OFFICER 10-4. AIRSHIP OFFICER Come out with your hands raised. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Still one guy outstanding right now, so we gotta clear this entire compound. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Watch your back. OFFICER LEZA The Homeland Security special agents, they're interviewing the driver at the waiting area right now. The driver half the time doesn't know about the shipment having anything illegal. POLICE OFFICER It's that Breaking Bad right there. OFFICER LEZA We're used to seeing the crystal meth in crystals or in powder. It's pretty rare to see it in liquid forms. Their main goal is always to get it across, so they're gonna always going to utilize different methods. It's always changing, the trends are always changing. That one's ready to be taken over there. So all the other ones that didn't have any narcotics we'll put them back on the pallets. Shrink wrap, they'll be put back in a trailer, pending destruction. How many buckets were they? Do you guys know? Huh? POLICE OFFICER Twenty-eight. OFFICER LEZA They had a final weight of 560 kilograms (1,234 pounds). With an estimated street value of $24 million dollars. Yeah it's a significant seizure. Teamwork, team effort. You know, that's what we're here for, finding narcotics. So when we find narcotics, it's like, "Hey, we did our job." So this will be turned over to HSI and they will continue their investigation and see if they could get any more arrests. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE Four of our agents made contact with the female at the door and pretty quickly, she allowed them to come inside, so it looks like maybe she's cooperating. I'm sure they're talking to her to see if the package was hers or if the package belonged to somebody else. All right, they're coming out. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT STEVE The lady in the apartment, she stated that she did not know what was in the box but she knows this male is supposed to come pick up the box. She's agreed to work with us and hand off the box to this next person. We need to be set up on her car and once he comes and picks up the box, then we'll get him. All right, let's hit it. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE We're waiting on a male to come and pick up the package. Mama explained that he's going to arrive and just retrieve the package from her trunk. Anticipated time was about 800 p.m. tonight to pick this package up. We've got undercover agents scattered around the complex. We have uniform patrol standing by. That's where we're at right now. Just kinda sitting and waiting. POLICE OFFICER So, it looks like it may be a Kia. POLICE OFFICER It backed up on the driver's side. POLICE OFFICER Now it's backing up on the passenger side of the target vehicle. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE Male got out of the blue vehicle. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE Red ball cap, dark jacket. POLICE OFFICER Yeah, that should be our target from the pictures we have. POLICE OFFICER He's going right to the door. POLICE OFFICER Leaning in to get the package. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE Now he's got the package in his hands, walking back to his car. And now he's pulling out. All right, the vehicle is passing us, headed towards the exit. All right, here we go. So, he's headed straight, correct? POLICE OFFICER Confirmed. Straight. POLICE OFFICER Ramp to get on 75 South. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE He may be going to a stash house. POLICE OFFICER Passing exit 233. Still following. POLICE OFFICER All right, so he's getting off at Mt. Zion exit. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE So, he's just making a loop. Basically, he's trying to see if anybody's following him, which we are. POLICE OFFICER All right. Go ahead and put the blue lights on him. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE It's go time. POLICE OFFICER They stopped him. TASK FORCE OFFICER DAVE With taking this one person into custody, we were able to seize approximately eight kilograms of methamphetamine. It's a huge epidemic so for us to take one kilo off or three hundred kilos off is huge to us because we feel like we're saving lives but there's still a train or a plane or a bus that's bringing more and more across. So, from here, we just move on to the next one. AIRSHIP OFFICER Come out with your hands raised. POLICE OFFICER Over here. POLICE OFFICER Police. Hands up. POLICE OFFICER Come on out. POLICE OFFICER Anybody else in there? POLICE OFFICER Just by yourself? All right. POLICE OFFICER [inaudible] the property? POLICE OFFICER Turn around, turn around. Just right over here. SPECIAL AGENT ISMAEL We had suspects run to the rear of the property that got detained there, and then we encountered other individuals within the premises. And now, we're getting identification for everybody, check for wants and warrants. And basically, we're gonna go from there. POLICE OFFICER Hey, airship, we are code-four here on the ground. POLICE OFFICER We really appreciate your help. Thank you so much. AIRSHIP OFFICER Good job guys. We'll see you. POLICE OFFICER If you want to give us a fly-by, go for it. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF Yeah. AIRSHIP OFFICER One step ahead of you. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF So there's the target vehicle over there. This type of truck has two gas tanks, tank one and tank two. Tank one, the front tank here. SPECIAL AGENT ISMAEL Looks like this is where they were doing majority of the work. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF They siphoned whatever was in the gas tank into five-gallon (18 liters) water jugs. It appears to be, uh, liquid meth that they extracted out of the fuel tank. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF There's so many subjects encountered here on the property, that we have to figure out who was involved, but we'll figure it out after the interviews. SPECIAL AGENT ISMAEL With the number of bodies we have in custody, none of our officers have been injured, everyone is safe. And now, it's just clean up time and get, get everything ready to go. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF We are calling in a lab team, they're gonna come test it and then order for it to be destroyed. SUPERVISORY SPECIAL AGENT JEFF This was a complete success. Thousands of pounds of meth are coming across our border every day. And we got some poison off the streets and we took out a lab. Today is a, is a win for all of us. This is what we do.
