ABIGAIL BEN BRANDON CASSIE CHAD CHUCK DAN DONNA EVE EVERYONE GEORGE GRACE GREG JOHN KATIE MARTHA NICK SAM STEPHANIE TARA TOM VALERIE CASSIE I had no idea this part of the park even existed. JOHN I'm an archeologist - it is my job to unearth things. CASSIE I thought we were going on a hike. JOHN We are. Right after we-- CASSIE Jump off a cliff. JOHN Yeah. CASSIE I'm surprised. JOHN You are? CASSIE At how much I want to do this. JOHN For me, Middleton has been one big surprise. I never thought I'd like teaching as much I do. CASSIE Yeah, I knew you would. You were always leading... even when you weren't in charge. So teachers lead. JOHN Ladies first. Oh yeah Cassie, here we go! JOHN It's funny but I think I was meant to come here. CASSIE Fate plays a role in everything. JOHN I think in a way moving here, lead me to the Maldives. Being in the field, I never had time to apply for a grant of my own. CASSIE Fate. JOHN Yeah. Or luck. CASSIE Or both. JOHN Although, if I don't find a field supervisor by the end of the week, it's all going to go away. The grant is conditional on my ability to staff the dig. CASSIE There's someone out there. JOHN I have two choices... but I just don't have a strong feeling about either one. CASSIE Time to clear your head. JOHN You know me so well. CASSIE Camping. JOHN Day after tomorrow. Figure a night under the stars... Clear my head. CASSIE You know, when I was younger, I wanted to camp in every country on the map. JOHN I've come pretty close. How about you? CASSIE I never quite finished my list before I moved here. JOHN It's not too late. ABIGAIL Martha's on to you. CASSIE What? ABIGAIL The party. CASSIE What happened? ABIGAIL It's not my fault. Greg is proving to be quite a challenge. CASSIE Greg? ABIGAIL I was trying to work out my next move in my head when the Martha walked in and I said something I shouldn't have. CASSIE You like Greg enough to be distracted by him? ABIGAIL I like that he's good looking. CASSIE This attraction that you feel, it isn't because he's not easily surrendering to your charms? ABIGAIL No. CASSIE Well, we don't always get what we want. ABIGAIL I do. CASSIE Well, I hope you want what you get. ABIGAIL Don't worry about me, I have Greg under control... Um, here comes trouble. CASSIE Hi Martha. MARTHA So... What's this I hear about you hosting a party? Celebrating something, are we? I saw the flowers for the party - lovely by the way, all my favorites. ABIGAIL They're not for you. MARTHA Who then? ABIGAIL John. MARTHA Who's John? CASSIE He's a friend who's teaching at the university this semester. MARTHA You're throwing him a party? ABIGAIL It's actually it's a romantic dinner for two. But please don't tell anyone. Cassie wants to surprise John. MARTHA Oh, well, of course. So it's a dinner? For John? CASSIE It would seem that way. MARTHA Well, then I shall say nothing. Except that I wish my husband were as romantic as you are. CASSIE I am sure Tom will find some way to mark your anniversary. MARTHA Your faith in him is sweet, but completely misguided. ABIGAIL Well, I think I put that genie back in the bottle. You're welcome. Good night. DONNA Everything was delicious. TARA I'm just glad you enjoyed it. DONNA You're quite the chef. Don't you agree? CHAD Absolutely. But, I have to say that Donna is really quite the talented chef as well. DONNA Thank you, honey. But not as good as Bobby. CHAD Bobby... BRANDON Who's that? DONNA Private chef. TARA Private chef? CHAD Jackson Hole. DONNA He came with the house that we rented. CHAD Ever been heli-skiing? BRANDON No. CHAD It'll change your life. It was a real treat to come home from a day of skiing and have dinner waiting for you. TARA Sounds amazing. CHAD It was. DONNA Maybe next time we could all go. CHAD Yeah. TARA That sounds fun. BRANDON Yeah. CASSIE Maybe you should join a team. I was hoping to get some help. SAM With your lay-up or your jump shot? CASSIE I have a guest who is seeing apparitions. SAM Ghosts? CASSIE Yes. He's about to check out and I'm worried about him. SAM You know I don't believe in that kind of stuff? CASSIE Spirits are just energy in an alternate form. SAM But I don't believe energy comes back into human form. CASSIE Doesn't mean it couldn't happen. SAM So you're arguing a negative. CASSIE Yes. But I'm positive about it. SAM Our conversations are never dull. CASSIE There isn't anyone I like disagreeing with more. SAM Well that sounds more psychological than physical. But I could get him a referral. CASSIE I have a feeling you're the person he needs to see. SAM Well, send your guest by my office - I'll see what I can do. It's my realtor. CASSIE The Lake House? SAM Unfortunately I'm not the only one who wants it. I'm not sure I want to get into a bidding war. CASSIE Before I commit to something I like to look at it from both sides. SAM Both sides? CASSIE Yeah. There's pros and cons to everything. SAM That's true. CASSIE When the pros out-weigh the cons... SAM You commit. CASSIE If it's something I really want, yes. GRACE So, how's your London essay going? NICK I finished it. GRACE I thought you'd be happier. NICK The more I find out, the less happy I get. GRACE Okay. I hope that's not the opening sentence of your essay. You don't have to go, Nick. NICK Hi Cassie. GRACE Okay. CASSIE Hey. Oh. GRACE What? CASSIE You have cinnamon on your nose. GRACE Nick! Not cool. NICK I must have missed that. I should GRACE 'Bye Nick. NICK 'Bye. GRACE I love cinnamon. CASSIE Ever since you were a baby. Cinnamaldehyde, the main ingredient in cinnamon and has great health benefits. GRACE And what about the sugar and butter? CASSIE Oh... these just taste good. You love baking. GRACE Yeah. I mean. I like doing it but it's not like cooking or baking... is my thing. CASSIE And you're looking for that thing? GRACE Yeah. I mean, I love school and my internship but... CASSIE But you want something else. GRACE Did you ever feel like this, mom? CASSIE I was sixteen once too. GRACE So what'd you do? CASSIE Well, I discovered a long time ago, that focusing on other people's needs brought me joy and made me feel complete. GRACE So, that is your thing. CASSIE It's one of my things... yeah. SAM Hey. CASSIE Where are you off to so early? SAM I had a patient admitted to hospital last night, I just wanted to check on her. CASSIE Seems like there's one other person to see at the hospital. SAM Valerie is not giving up... CASSIE And you? SAM This Chief of Staff job is just too big of a commitment. I have to have time for Nick. CASSIE What if the Hillcrest job were different? SAM It doesn't work that way. CASSIE You have to turn the job they're offering, into the job you want. SAM Jobs like that don't change for you, you change for them. I'll just end up bending to the job. CASSIE That's too bad. SAM How so? CASSIE The whole community would benefit from having you run the hospital. Look what you've done for Middleton. You've had quite an impact, made such a difference. SAM I'd like to help more people but I just don't know how. But thanks. CASSIE Sure. SAM See ya. BEN Delicious. STEPHANIE That's what you said about the Orange Chiffon, the Mocha Praline and the Triple Berry Cheesecake - they can't all be delicious. BEN I can't decide. They're all good. Hey, I talked to my friend, Walter. STEPHANIE Who's Walter? BEN The friend who is looking to invest. He wants to meet with you. STEPHANIE How do you know him, again? BEN Walter and I went to high school together. But he's a broker at the exchange in Chicago. STEPHANIE I don't know... BEN You could get a loan? STEPHANIE I'm still paying down the loan on the Bistro. The bank isn't an option. BEN Then meet with Walter. Come on. Help me help you get your catering business going. MARTHA Catering? Is someone catering a party I don't know about? STEPHANIE Ah... BEN No. Stephanie has been talking about starting a catering business. MARTHA Oh. BEN I gotta get back to work. Thanks for the cake. STEPHANIE Anytime. MARTHA When I heard catering, I thought you were just talking about Cassie's dinner party. STEPHANIE Cassie? MARTHA But of course that's just a romantic dinner for two, so-- Which I wasn't supposed to mention. STEPHANIE Cassie's having a romantic dinner? MARTHA For John. STEPHANIE The hunky archeologist? MARTHA She told me herself. STEPHANIE Hey John... JOHN Stephanie. MARTHA So... I take it you're Cassie's John? Mayor Martha Tinsdale. JOHN Nice to meet you. Can I put in an early lunch order for tomorrow. STEPHANIE Ah. MARTHA Tomorrow? JOHN Yeah. I figure, why eat freeze dried food while I'm camping when I can enjoy one of Stephanie's lunch baskets, right? MARTHA You can't go away tomorrow. JOHN Why? STEPHANIE Cassie's planning a surprise for you. JOHN Like a party? MARTHA Not really a party, more like a dinner. Stephanie shouldn't have told you. JOHN But Cassie knows I'm headed out of town tomorrow. MARTHA She does? JOHN Yeah. I told her yesterday. MARTHA So, how can she be planning a surprise dinner for you? JOHN That's a good question. SAM Hi there. VALERIE Hi. You saved me a trip. SAM Did I? VALERIE I was heading to your office. I've spoken with the powers that be here and they are ready to make an official offer. SAM I'm listening... VALERIE Great. Just tell me what it will take to close the deal. SAM I need... Complete autonomy over my schedule to take care of my practice and my son. VALERIE You know you'll be responsible for directing and operating the entire hospital, supervising the medical staff... funding, clinical trials... that's a full-time job. SAM I can't give you all my time. VALERIE You don't make this easy, do you? SAM Having time for my family and my practice, those are nonnegotiable. VALERIE Well, I know you're worth it. SAM But? VALERIE I don't know if I can sell that to the board. GRACE Hi Mom. CASSIE Hi. GRACE Pumpkin spiced chai. CASSIE Thank you. GRACE I had a feeling you could use a pick me up. CASSIE Your feeling was right. Something tells me you could use a pick-me-up as well. GRACE I'm just trying to figure out a way to take your advice. CASSIE To help someone? GRACE Yes. CASSIE The act of reaching out is a good start. Every beginning has to start somewhere. GRACE Oh. Cheers... Oh! No, no, no! This is my favourite shirt. CASSIE You know, we should get that stain out before it sets. GRACE I can't. I have school in 20 minutes. CASSIE Here. I got a bunch of vintage tees in. GRACE I love it. Thanks. CASSIE Sure. STEPHANIE I'm not speaking to you. CASSIE But you are. STEPHANIE Just to tell you that I'm not. CASSIE Stephanie... STEPHANIE How is it that I didn't know when I called it from the start? CASSIE What are you talking about? STEPHANIE You're throwing a romantic dinner for John and I have to hear about it from Martha? And what about Martha's party? It's a big event. I need you there. You can't just sneak off with John - CASSIE I'm not having dinner with John. Abigail slipped, Martha almost found out about her party... STEPHANIE Oh... it's a cover. That makes sense. I forgive you. CASSIE Thanks. STEPHANIE Does John know it's a cover? CASSIE John doesn't know about any of this. John knows about this? STEPHANIE On the bright side… CASSIE There's a bright side? STEPHANIE Abigail messed up - not me. I told you I could keep a secret and I did. CASSIE You told John about the dinner. STEPHANIE Yeah. But that's not a real thing; the dinner. So it doesn't count. CASSIE You didn't know that at the time. STEPHANIE Okay, let's not confuse me with details and facts. CASSIE Okay. Anyway, Ben was in working on my shelf. STEPHANIE He told you about the catering business? He knows someone who might be interested in investing. CASSIE But you're not so sold on the idea. STEPHANIE I'm not. CASSIE Do you mind taking this to Abigail. She wants to sell my candles in her store. And the shop is too busy to leave. STEPHANIE Sure, it's on my way back to the Bistro. That's one path I know my way to. GRACE What do you think? CASSIE Perfect. GREG I got a text about a flower arrangement to pick up. But I didn't order anything. ABIGAIL You didn't? Well, now you're here maybe you'd like to tell me what your problem is? GREG I have a problem? ABIGAIL We don't have a second date. GREG And that's a problem? ABIGAIL For you it is. GREG But not for you. ABIGAIL I can go off and get a second date with anybody. GREG So could I? ABIGAIL But your second date wouldn't include me, and that would be a loss. But it seems as if the universe has, through some clerical error, is giving you a chance to right your wrong. GREG I don't do the girlfriend thing. ABIGAIL What makes you think that I want that? GREG My past experience. What do you say we get together tomorrow and discuss this? ABIGAIL Ooo, sorry, I'm booked. I'm donating flowers to an event tomorrow night. GREG That's very generous. ABIGAIL I'm a giver. GREG How about I help you with your order and then we grab some food. Is it a date? ABIGAIL Well, I suppose I could give you one more chance. GREG Well you are a giver. DAN I don't know how you got me here. CASSIE Deep down you know it's where you need to be. DAN Last night... CASSIE You saw the same ghost? DAN No, it was my sister this time. As clear as day. Just standing there. She was so real. CASSIE Your sister passed away? DAN He's going to think I'm crazy. I'm kind of tired of seeing doctors. SAM I'll try not to take that last comment personally. CASSIE Dan, this is Dr. Radford. SAM You've seen a lot of doctors lately? DAN Because of my family history, I just had an angiograph. SAM Oh. Everything okay? DAN Turns out I just had a glitch on my Ekg - my heart is fine. SAM That's good news. DAN No offense, but it's not me who has the problem, it's Grey House. It's haunted. SAM Well, if you have an internal infection, and you're spiking a fever that alone could be the cause of your symptoms. Why don't we just do a check-up, rule some things out. DAN All right... you can do an exam. CASSIE I'll pick you up later. You're in great hands. SAM Eve. EVE Let's get you set up. CASSIE So... tell me, how's it going with the list? SAM List? CASSIE Yeah. The lake house? SAM Oh. Well, the pros and cons are about the same... CASSIE So they're even. SAM There are as many reasons to want to buy it as there are to walk away. CASSIE But you haven't walked away. SAM No, I still have time to put in an offer. CASSIE So, maybe there's a reason that you haven't made a written offer on the house? TOM I'm glad you could join me. MARTHA Yes. And what a celebratory lunch this was. TOM This is work... give me a minute. Here. For the bill. Hello? Terrific. MARTHA Thank you. So, have you seen Cassie lately? TOM No. Why do you ask? MARTHA No reason. Just making conversation. BRANDON This is really good. TARA It's not private chef good. BRANDON You're kidding right? You're not kidding. TARA Donna and Chad have such a great life. BRANDON We have a great life. TARA Not "heli-skiing in Jackson Hole with a private chef" great. BRANDON We don't need a private chef. And you hate skiing. TARA It's just- BRANDON What? TARA They're so perfect. They have a successful business, they go travelling all the time, they have a summer house... BRANDON So? TARA It just makes me feel like an underachiever. BRANDON Tara, you're working on your PhD, you are hardly an underachiever. What is it? TARA That's just it... I left the program. BRANDON You quit grad school? TARA I don't want to get my PhD. I officially withdrew last week. JOHN Hi. CASSIE John. What can I do for you? JOHN I heard through the grapevine that you were throwing a surprise dinner for the two us. Sounds like fun. CASSIE The dinner for us. It's a ruse so Martha doesn't find out about her surprise anniversary party. JOHN Okay. That makes sense. Kind of. CASSIE Well, Martha is a bit of a bloodhound so everyone is having to go to great lengths. JOHN Well, now that I know my schedule is free, I'll be on my way. CASSIE You should come to the party. Yeah, it would be a good way for you to meet new people in town. JOHN I need to make a decision on the field supervisor position, I can't do that at a party. CASSIE I understand... you are so close. JOHN Yeah. CASSIE But if you run into Martha... JOHN As far as she knows, we have a fake date for dinner at Grey House. CASSIE Thanks. JOHN Happy to help. NICK Will you proof my London essay? GRACE Yeah. NICK Thanks. Man, it took forever. GRACE You struggled with it? Or are you struggling with something new? NICK It's just that, as part of the application, I have to sign a contract. Unless I have a "dire medical emergency," I have to stay and finish out the program. Once I get there, there's no coming back. GRACE They aren't going to force you to stay if you don't want to. NICK But if I leave before it's over, then everyone, including my dad, will know I couldn't hack it. Anyway, can you please just proof the essay? GRACE Nick, I'm on it. KATIE That's the Globe. GRACE Excuse me? KATIE Your T-shirt... that's the Globe Theatre in London. GRACE I didn't know... my mom just gave it to me. You've been there? KATIE I have. GRACE You've been to London? KATIE Lived there. My mom is American, but my dad is English. GRACE That is so cool. Wait, you and I have biology together. KATIE Not for much longer, I think. I failed the last quiz. GRACE I'm sorry. KATIE Not half as sorry as my dad... he's a big time surgeon. GRACE I could help. KATIE You don't have to be nice to the new kid. GRACE No, no, I want to help. KATIE It's possible I'm a lost cause. GRACE Trust me, I've got this. KATIE Then I'm glad I found you. MARTHA Ah-ha! I have proof. CASSIE Hello Martha. MARTHA I asked Tom if he had seen you recently. He said no. He's lying. And this receipt proves it. Now I demand that you tell me the truth about my anniversary. Please. It's making me crazy not to know. CASSIE The truth is something you don't want to hear. MARTHA I knew it. CASSIE I think you should stop focusing on what Tom is doing for you and think about what you can do for Tom. MARTHA Romance is his job. It has always been his job. CASSIE Then he'd be really surprised if you did something. MARTHA He would be. He'd be embarrassed. I'm going to find him the most heartfelt, romantic present ever. He will have done nothing for me. He will feel awful and I'll feel vindicated. It's not a party but it will have to do. CASSIE Martha. That's not my point. MARTHA Well, it is my point. Please, Cassie - I need a gift. A perfect gift. CASSIE The traditional gift for the thirtieth anniversary is pearl. MARTHA Pearl? You want me to get Tom a string of pearls like I wore on my wedding day? CASSIE It's your gift; you really need to decide how best to express your feelings. MARTHA Pearl... as if... You know, I think the fumes from all these candles are finally getting to you, Miss Cassie Nightingale. Pearl, ha! BRANDON Oh, you're still up? TARA I waited. I know you're angry. BRANDON Confused. Why didn't you tell me about grad school? TARA I guess I was afraid that you would think I was making a mistake, and you would try to talk me out of it. But this is what I really want. BRANDON Than it's what I want. TARA Really? BRANDON I don't want you to do anything that you don't love. TARA I just, I feel like such a failure. BRANDON You're not. TARA I bet Donna would never have quit. BRANDON You can't compare yourself to her or anybody else. TARA She's just so perfect. BRANDON To me. You're perfect. I love you. But going forward, no more keeping anything from each other. Okay? Promise. STEPHANIE This number has to be wrong. CHUCK It isn't. STEPHANIE That's the rent? CHUCK It's a steal. The landlord just wants a good, long-term tenant. STEPHANIE And all the kitchen equipment? CHUCK Comes with. STEPHANIE So I won't have to build it up from scratch. CHUCK If you're serious about starting a catering business, this is the place. Rent's low, fully loaded... close to the Bistro. STEPHANIE Can I come back and see the space again tomorrow? CHUCK Oh, sure... Do you need to show it to the bank or an investor? I can coordinate. STEPHANIE What? CHUCK Your financing? Who's your partner in this? GRACE ...so during cellular respiration, all the carbons of glucose are actually converted into carbon dioxide. KATIE Okay, I get that. I finally get that. GRACE You know, we should be lab partners. KATIE That would be awesome. GRACE I'll talk to Mr. Rock, he's cool. KATIE I wish there was something I could do something for you. GRACE Oh, stop. Hey Mom. CASSIE Hey. GRACE This is my friend Katie... CASSIE It's nice to meet you. KATIE It's nice to meet you Mrs. Russell. CASSIE Call me Cassie. KATIE I love that T-shirt of Grace's. GRACE Yes, and Katie is from London. KATIE That's my dad... excuse me. GRACE Mom? CASSIE Yeah? GRACE Can Katie could come to Martha's party with us? CASSIE Of course. GRACE Cool... ABIGAIL So, I won't be needing your help with the flowers later. GEORGE Really? ABIGAIL I've got it covered. I'm switching cars with Brandon. GEORGE Still, it's a lot to load up. CASSIE I think she has some help. GEORGE Well, thank you Greg. CASSIE So you have what you want. ABIGAIL Did you ever doubt me? CASSIE No. SAM Hey there. CASSIE Sam, hey, come on in. So I heard from Dan that all his tests came back negative. SAM Yeah, his physical checked out completely normal. No fever, no infection and no other apparent complications from his angiograph but I still think there's something wrong with him physically. CASSIE Well, he said that the ghost is now in the image of his sister. SAM His sister passed away? CASSIE But he swears it was her. He said the image was real. Clear. Very lifelike. SAM It's like his brain is trying to tell him something. CASSIE Or us. SAM His brain... Wait, you said... Clear. Very lifelike. This image of his sister? The ghost. CASSIE That's what he said. SAM I'll call ahead. I think Dan needs an M.R.I. CASSIE Really? SAM It's the only way we'll know. CASSIE Know what? SAM If my hunch is right. SAM Well, your M.R.I did detect some minimal damage to the mid brain. I think you may be suffering from Peduncular Hallucinosis. It's a rare condition that causes extremely lifelike hallucinations. But it's not as bad as it sounds. DAN What causes it? SAM In very rare instances, an angiograph procedure can cause a small clot to dislodge, and lead to a tiny lesion on the brain. That's what triggers the hallucinations. DAN I don't know what to say. SAM I do... It can be successfully treated with drug therapy. I've already contacted one of the top neurologists in Chicago and he's agreed to see you for a treatment plan. DAN Thank you, Dr. Radford. SAM I'm glad I could help. And I live right next door to Grey House if you have any questions or need to talk before you leave. I'll be tracking your treatment and your progress. Out of sight, is not out of mind with me. Okay. And of course, they'll have some forms they'll want you to fill out. DAN Thank you. CASSIE We'll be right back. SAM My guy in Chicago, the best, seriously. CASSIE Maybe not the best. VALERIE Sam? SAM Hey. Valerie Hanson, Cassie Nightingale. VALERIE Nice to meet you. CASSIE You as well. I'm gonna go check on Dan. Excuse me. VALERIE Are you admitting a patient? SAM Actually, solving a mystery. Peduncular Hallucinosis. It's a rare illness. About one in 300 million. VALERIE And we have a case of it here? SAM Middleton. I brought him in for an MRI. VALERIE 1 in 300 million? SAM I have a good friend in New York who is a neurosurgeon and we were both at the hospital there and we had a very similar patient. But that person ended up suffering from psychosis, it was mental, not physical. VALERIE So that's what made you think of this, or... SAM No, not really but once I lock onto to something, it's not in my nature to let go. VALERIE Lucky for the patient. SAM My colleague in Chicago wants to do a paper, research. VALERIE What do you want? SAM For my patient to get better and now he will. GREG True story. Swear. ABIGAIL Wow. That's a very long story about you and a shark. GREG I love to surf. ABIGAIL I was- GREG But only big waves, though. ABIGAIL Well, if- GREG Have you been surfing? It's not the same as when you're towed out to a 30 foot wave is, well, not a lot of people have done it. Not that I'm bragging but... ABIGAIL I think- GREG I think that's what's great about it is that it forces you to see your place in the universe. It's very Zen. ABIGAIL You meditate? GREG I once went on this spiritual retreat in India... it was amazing... Got me to stop focusing on myself. ABIGAIL You don't say. GREG It blew my mind. ABIGAIL I know the feeling. GREG I just realized I have been talking about myself since we got into the car, haven't I? Enough about me. But I really want you to see the photos from over there. ABIGAIL Of surfing or Zen-ing? GREG This is a great one... ABIGAIL Yeah, that is a great picture of you and a girl in a bikini. GREG That's my girlfriend. Ex. She was something else. ABIGAIL You don't say. STEPHANIE Thanks for helping. BEN You know I'm here for you. STEPHANIE I do. And... I found a space. The space you showed me that day. BEN That's great. I'll tell my friend. You're going to really like him. STEPHANIE I probably would. But I'm going to invest in myself. BEN Oh. How? STEPHANIE I ran the numbers and I can do it. If I can keep my costs down and with the cheaper rent, I can. It'll work. And I'll reinvest the profits from the Bitro into the catering business until the catering business can stand on it's own. What do you think? BEN I like it. STEPHANIE I love it... BEN I love you when you're like this. Thomas from the glass shop. Hey Thomas... MARTHA I still don't understand what's going on? CASSIE Tom will explain. MARTHA Tom? In the name of all that is holy where are you taking me-- EVERYONE Surprise! CASSIE Happy anniversary. MARTHA I can't believe that Tom kept this from me. That you all kept this from me. MARTHA Tom... all of this... It's perfect. TOM It was the only way to make it a surprise. MARTHA This looks just like where we had our wedding reception. CASSIE It's the perfect place for you and Tom. TOM You got me something. MARTHA Well, pearls are for your thirtieth anniversary. CASSIE What a beautiful pearl frame. TOM I love it. CASSIE Excuse me. STEPHANIE I just booked a wedding. CASSIE Sounds like you are in the catering business? STEPHANIE I am. And I found the perfect spot. I found it a few days ago with Ben but I wasn't ready to consider starting a business. CASSIE But in the light of day... But something's wrong? STEPHANIE Or right. Or, I don't know. I think Ben may have told me he loved me. CHAD Thanks for inviting us. DONNA Whoever did the food, really tasty. TARA Stephanie. BRANDON She runs the Bistro. DONNA Maybe I can get her number. CHAD Oh, for the office party? DONNA No, I was thinking we would have a big party for Mom's birthday. CHAD They're in Florida. DONNA Actually, they're coming to stay with us for the summer. CHAD Excuse me. DONNA He and my mom don't get along. I should go find him. BRANDON Well. No couple is perfect, not even the Bryants. CASSIE Abigail. Where's Greg? ABIGAIL I sent him to get drinks. I needed a break. CASSIE A break? ABIGAIL Okay, you were right... He's totally wrong for me. CASSIE Sometimes, the chase is more exciting than the object of the chase. ABIGAIL All he does is talk about himself. You can't imagine. Well, if you'll excuse me I need to fake a migraine... GRACE Mom. CASSIE Honey, hey. Seems like Nick and Katie are hitting it off. GRACE Yes. I have a feeling Katie is going to help Nick with London. CASSIE Feels good to help? GRACE Feels great. Oh, yeah. Be right back, okay? JOHN This is a great party. CASSIE John. JOHN I changed my mind. CASSIE I'm glad you did. JOHN Thank you. It was nice of you to invite me. CASSIE Did you decide on your field supervisor? JOHN No camping necessary. But I'm not sure they're gonna take the job. CASSIE It's the opportunity of a lifetime. JOHN That's true, it is. And I'm offering it to you. CASSIE Me? JOHN We have both been through hundreds of resumes and there is no one better fit for the job than you. CASSIE I have responsibilities... Grace, my store... Grey House. JOHN Every obstacle has a solution. You taught me that. And if it's something you want to do, and I think you do, I know you can find a way - we can find a way. CASSIE I don't think JOHN Cassie, Grace can come with you. We'll figure it out. Don't think and don't dismiss it out of hand. Just sleep on it. SAM Cheers! CASSIE What are we toasting to? SAM I got the lake house. CASSIE You won the bidding war. SAM And not with the highest price. The list of pros and cons turned into a letter to the seller. CASSIE Must have a been a really good letter. SAM I told him how the house gave me an opportunity rarely afforded to parents; to make up for lost time. CASSIE And he was swayed. SAM He's a father too. CASSIE It's a good thing you shared your story. SAM If I hadn't made that list, I wouldn't have written the letter. And if I hadn't met you, I wouldn't have done either of those things. CASSIE It's a good thing we met. SAM Kind of a game changer. Maybe for both of us. And... CASSIE Another toast? SAM The hospital board accepted all my terms. I'm the new Chief of Staff of Hillcrest. CASSIE Congratulations. Big news. SAM Thanks. I did not think they would let me to share the job responsibilities with another doctor. CASSIE But they did. SAM It was the only way I'd say yes. Now I get to keep my practice here, and spend time with Nick. I have grown pretty fond of my life here in Middleton.
