ABIGAIL ADAM CASSIE DONOVAN GEORGE GRACE HENRY JARED JENNIFER JONATHON LINDSAY MARTHA MR_LANGER NARRATOR NICK PHIL SAM STEPHANIE VINCENT NARRATOR Previously on “Good Witch”. JARED The major lives here. MARTHA My house is in Blairsville! JARED I’ve been instructed to strip you of your title. Mayor Pershing, the city is yours. GRACE I remember making this for daddy. CASSIE You miss him? GRACE Yes. SAM I wanted to ask if it would be okay if I married your mother. GRACE Yes. STEPHANIE I know I’ve been outside of the dating game for so long, I don’t know how to get back in it. CASSIE I’m sure you’ll find yourself with plenty of options STEPHANIE I’ll believe it when I see it. PHIL I’m sorry Abigail. I know we kind of had something started here but I found a place in Portland. ABIGAIL Okay then. CASSIE What’s wrong? SAM The whole place is under three feet of water. CASSIE The wedding. SAM I can’t believe we’re going to have to wait. CASSIE Let’s not give up. We’ll find the perfect place. SAM I would never give up. SAM It’s a bottomless pit in here. CASSIE Oh stop it. SAM I’m used to you surprising me. It’s one of the things I love about you but I never imagined you’d have a junk room that’s so messy. CASSIE Uh it’s not junk, they’re momentos and I know where everything is. SAM I have no doubt. Well as soon as Nick moves in here, all the momentos will be replaced with video games. If that kids not battling aliens, he’s talking about battling aliens. CASSIE An active imagination is fuel for a creative soul. SAM Yeah well, not sure that’s going to fly on college applications. At least not the ones that he filled out but never sent in. CASSIE There’s still time. SAM I’ve tried tough love. I’ve tried being cool dad. CASSIE Ah but you haven’t tried being awesome new step mom. SAM You think you can work your magic on Nick? SAM I knew there was a reason I was marrying you. CASSIE Oh, is that the only reason? SAM No. CASSIE Do tell. SAM Tell you in two days. CASSIE Can you believe it’s finally happening? SAM Shh, don’t jinx it CASSIE Okay. CASSIE Stop distracting me or we’ll never get this done. CASSIE I haven’t seen this in a long time. CASSIE Wow. SAM Who are they? CASSIE My great, great, great grandmother Catherine Merrywick and her husband Douglas. They got married under the forever tree. On their wedding day they carved their initials inside a heart on the trunk which means their love will last. SAM Forever. SAM The name kind of gave it away. SAM A lot of people carve their initials in trees. CASSIE Uh, not a tree thats lived for thousands of years. Legend has it that the roots never stopped growing. They go so deep into the ground that the tree will be here for all of time. SAM Where is it? CASSIE No one knows. CASSIE Most believe that the tree has been lost to the ages. SAM What do you believe? CASSIE When the time is right, the forever tree will reveal itself. MARTHA That’s it. Alright now careful. Keep it moving but, most importantly keep it clean. MARTHA Oh my. Who has the long handled duster? STEPHANIE Isn’t it just so romantic that Sam and Cassie went horseback riding here on their first date and now they’re getting married here? It really is beautiful. ABIGAIL It will be even more beautiful with flowers everywhere. STEPHANIE Well, nobody will be looking at the flowers after they taste the food. ABIGAIL Please. We both know flowers are the most important part of a wedding. STEPHANIE I doubt fifty hungry guests would agree with that. ABIGAIL Forty eight to be exact. STEPHANIE Oh right. Forgot my plus one’s back with his ex wife. ABIGAIL At least Liam left you for a good reason. Phil chose his dating app company over me. He did come back for you. ABIGAIL Like I was ever going to move to Portland. My flower shop is here. STEPHANIE You’re also the mayor. ABIGAIL Which is taking up my entire day. I have to figure out how to fund the new playground equipment. I’m up to my ears in paperwork and my phone is ringing off the hook with constituents calling all day. STEPHANIE I wouldn’t want to do it. MARTHA Do what? ABIGAIL Move to Portland. I hear they get a lot of rain. MARTHA Ah, well, Phil’s loss is Middletons gain. We couldn't have a better interim mayor in my absence. ABIGAIL What do you want, Martha? MARTHA Well.. since you ask, my job back. You need to get this Blairsville town line nonsense fixed so my house can be returned to Middleton. ABIGAIL If I were you, I would embrace my time away from city hall. CASSIE Well, you don’t have to be mayor to be Martha. MARTHA Oh. You think I’d be used to you just popping up by now. MARTHA Oh. No. No. No. No. Candles on the side walls only. STEPHANIE You should start planning weddings again Martha. You have a knack for it. MARTHA No. That phase of my life is over. I’m just doing this as a favour to Cassie. CASSIE I appreciate your help but I’d much rather you enjoy yourself as our guest. MARTHA But, how would I enjoy myself if I have nothing to do? ABIGAIL Quite the conundrum. CASSIE Or quite the opportunity. MARTHA You’re right, Cassie. Perhaps Martha Tinsdale needs to reinvent herself. CASSIE You could start by helping me out at Bell, Book & Candle. There’s been a recent opening. CASSIE Excuse me. NICK Dad, you’re about to get married. Are we seriously going to talk about college now? SAM Well, there’s still two days til' the wedding and I’m off work. What else are we going to talk about? NICK Anything else. Please. SAM Fair enough, but your grandma and grandpa might ask about your plans and they’ll be here in a couple hours. NICK Oh great. Now I’m getting it from all sides. CASSIE Getting what? NICK The whole college, “what are you going to do with your life?” thing. CASSIE Well, I promise not to ask. CASSIE At least, not about college. Could you go grab a ladder for me? I needed to finish hanging the lights. I saw one out by the horse stables. NICK Gladly. CASSIE I’ll take that. SAM So you’re going to get him to take college more seriously by promising not to talk about college? SAM Interesting strategy. CASSIE You don’t always need to talk to get someone to listen. NICK Nice horse. LINDSAY Thanks! She’s a great jumper. LINDSAY Cool jacket. LINDSAY I’m Lindsay. NICK I’m getting married. Uh I mean my, my my dad’s getting married. I’m Nick. LINDSAY Great to meet you. NICK Thanks. Okay, man of few words. NICK I came looking for a ladder. LINDSAY Just on the side of the barn. LINDSAY Easy Starfire. NICK Starfire? NICK Like from the game Destination? LINDSAY Is there another Starfire? LINDSAY I’m on level four. NICK Me too. LINDSAY It’s a new horse. He’s been really restless and no one can get near him yet. NICK Wow. NICK I guess I’ll see you. LINDSAY Oh. You forgot the ladder. NICK Oh. Yeah. GRACE Hi. Hello. LINDSAY Hey! Get back! GRACE Shh. Shh. Shh. Shh. SAM Grace! GRACE Shh. SAM Hey! You okay? GRACE Yeah. I’m fine. I just- GRACE Just not sure he is. CASSIE Vincent? VINCENT What’s up Cass? CASSIE Look at you! VINCENT I look good, right? CASSIE Yeah! GEORGE I’ll let you two get caught up. It was nice talking to you. VINCENT Yeah. You too. You ever get out to the coast, we’ll sail to Catalina. GEORGE I’ll hold you to that. CASSIE What are you doing here? VINCENT Didn’t you invite me? CASSIE Well, we did but you never RSVP’d. VINCENT You’re right. I should get going. CASSIE No. No. No. No. I’m not letting you get away again. Hey! Who’s this? Aw Sam, this is Vincent. SAM Oh, the foster brother. VINCENT Oh I guess Cass told you about me! SAM Yeah, she told me you haven’t been around the past ten years. CASSIE Well, I’m glad you’re here now. VINCENT Me too. CASSIE Wait til’ you see Grace. She’s all grown up now. VINCENT Well that makes two of us. CASSIE Yeah. GRACE It’s so nice having you here uncle Vincent. I cannot remember the last time I saw you. SAM It’s because he keeps promising to come and never shows up. When you’re out at sea, keeping a schedule can be tough. The ocean is unforgiving. CASSIE We’re not. We’re grateful for all these gifts. GRACE Yes and I love my - VINCENT It’s a handmade harmony ball from Bali. There’s a small bell inside. When you wear it, it reminds you to take a deep breath and relax. CASSIE Which is why they’re also used for meditation. GRACE Cool. Thanks. VINCENT Your turn Sam! SAM Ah. NICK What’d you get, dad? SAM Uh let’s see. It’s a- VINCENT It’s a lali drum from Fiji used to call people together. I figured you could use it to gather the new family. SAM Or I could send a group text. SAM Uh seriously, it’s it’s very thoughtful. GRACE Your turn mom. CASSIE Yes. Okay. Let’s see here. Black pearls.. they’re amazing. VINCENT Yeah I found them when I was sailing at the French Polynesia last month. They’re supposed to protect the wearer from negative energy. NICK Not too much of that around Cassie. CASSIE It’s also believed that they have healing powers. VINCENT You know, as a kid, I never needed an encyclopedia when I was living with Cassie. GRACE Well that sounds like my mom. VINCENT She would always tell me these amazing adventures she had planned. I mean her stories inspired me take up sailing. NICK I can’t believe you’ve been around the world. VINCENT Yeah I’ve circled the world a few times working for Jonathon Gardiner. SAM The billionaire? VINCENT Yeah. I’m in charge of his entire fleet. CASSIE Well you’re definitely not that shy little kid anymore. GRACE How old were you guys when you lived together? VINCENT Uh, I got placed there when I was six. CASSIE Yeah when I went to college you were ten. When I came home, you were gone. VINCENT Foster kids get moved around a lot. CASSIE Yeah it took me a long time to find you again. I know we may not have seen each other as much as we wanted, but now that you’re here we’re going to start making up for that. SAM I’m going to go check in with the office. CASSIE Dr. Kadovitz is covering for you, so what’s really going on? SAM I know Vincent being here means a lot to you. CASSIE But you think he’s going to disappoint me. SAM He has before. I just don’t want to see you get hurt again. CASSIE And I love you for that but I need you to do something for me. SAM Give Vincent a chance. STEPHANIE Hey, Mr.Langer - How’s the patient? MR LANGER Bored! There’s like two channels in this place. Well, would a hot coffee and a maple bacon donut cheer you up? MR LANGER You know if I don’t make it through the operation, this is what I’m going to miss most. ADAM Sure your wife will be happy to hear that. MR LANGER She’ll be happy I saved her half. ADAM Are you related to this troublemaker? STEPHANIE Mr.Langer was my first customer the day that I opened my bistro. He’s come in everyday since for a hot coffee and a maple bacon donut. ADAM I came in to see if you wanted to play some gin but I can come back later. STEPHANIE A doctor has time to play cards? ADAM A doctor probably doesn’t but a hospital chaplain does. Adam Hawkins. STEPHANIE Oh uh, you don’t look like a chaplain. ADAM What does a chaplain look like? MR LANGER We going to play cards or what? STEPHANIE I’ll let you two get to it. ADAM It was nice to meet you. STEPHANIE Yeah.. you too. CASSIE Great song. SAM It was my parents first dance at their wedding. I’m adding it to the playlist for the band. CASSIE I love it. I can’t wait to meet them. SAM Ten to one, as soon as they get here, my dad will tell you how they made record time from Minnesota. Then he’ll start looking for things to fix around the house. CASSIE Well I was kind of hoping they’d be here by now. I have a few things to do before Graces final fitting for her maid of honour gown. CASSIE Actually, perfect timing. JENNIFER Hello! We’re here. SAM Hey guys. JENNIFER Now, that’s how you greet us? You give your mother a hug. JENNIFER And you too. You’re family now.. unless of course you’re not Cassie, in which case I’ll be hugging a stranger. You’re safe. JONATHON Are you sure you wanna marry this one? He’s a little grumpy you know. CASSIE Yeah I’m working on that. It’s so great to finally meet you both. SAM And as you can see, they’re a handful. JONATHON Oh, so that’s why you’ve been keeping Cassie to yourself. You’re afraid we’ll embarrass you, huh? SAM I’ve missed you guys. CASSIE Well we have a beautiful room ready for you. SAM You want me to show them so you can run out? CASSIE Thanks. JENNIFER Now is there anything at all that I can do to help with the wedding? CASSIE Yes. You can relax and enjoy yourselves. JONATHON Oh well we’re already off to a good start, made record time from Minnesota. SAM Dad, let me help you with those bags. JONATHON Oh they’re perfectly balanced. Don’t touch em’, just show the way. SAM If you throw out your back, don’t say I didn’t offer. JONATHON I’m like an ox and when I unpack, there’s a bent sprinkler head out there I wanna fix. JENNIFER My two boys. Some things never change. CASSIE You have a wonderful family. JENNIFER We have a wonderful family. GRACE Did you get it? STEPHANIE Just came this morning. STEPHANIE I swear the bride and groom look exactly like Cassie and Sam. ABIGAIL I wouldn’t be so excited. If the toppers that cool, no one’s gonna look at your cake. I hadn’t thought of that. GRACE Where is it? I wanna see. STEPHANIE Be right back. ABIGAIL What? I’m gonna pay for it. GRACE Well in that case, you pay for mine too please. ABIGAIL Well that definitely doesn’t look like Cassie. STEPHANIE It was too close to the oven when I baked the cookies. GRACE What are we going to do? STEPHANIE Well don’t panic, I can fix it. I think. ABIGAIL The delivery company says the flowers didn’t make it on to the truck. MARTHA Have no fear. You’re looking at an expert in damage control. I’ll make some calls. ABIGAIL -Martha- -Grease some palms- ABIGAIL -Martha- MARTHA -They’ll be flowers here toots sweet- ABIGAIL -Martha- I’ve got it. The flowers will arrive in plenty of time for the wedding. There is no damage, just a little hiccup. GRACE I hope so. MARTHA Oh. Well then I’ll just have an espresso to go. ABIGAIL Aren’t you supposed to be helping Cassie at the Bell, Book & Candle while she’s getting ready for the wedding? MARTHA I was actually just on my way there. It’s all part of finding the updated moi. Let’s call it Martha 2.0 MARTHA Ta-ta! STEPHANIE Oh. She forgot her coffee. ABIGAIL I’ll take it. If I find it, that’ll be my wedding gift to Cassie. NICK She’ll love that. JONATHON A tree? SAM The Forever Tree. It’s a Merrywick thing. JONATHON Reminds me of the time that I drove three hours to surprise your mother with a piece of pie from a bakery that she loved. That stuff is exhausting. SAM You look good in a suit, pal. JONATHON You know I’ve worn one everyday since I got my business degree. NICK That didn’t take long. Did dad tell you to bring up college? JONATHON Actually, no. I just did the math. College comes after high school. JONATHON One thing I’ve learned, you gotta trust your gut. Not just with people, with everything. So if you don’t feel that college is in your DNA, find what is. Thanks grandpa. SAM Yeah, thanks grandpa. JONATHON Hey. You used to love my advice. Especially when it came to dating. NICK What kind of dating advice would you give him? JONATHON What’s her name? NICK Lindsay. I met her at the ranch where dad and Cassie are getting married. JONATHON You got tongue tied, didn’t you? NICK Totally. But I think she’s into me. SAM Only way to know for sure is to ask her out. NICK Yeah.. I don’t know. JONATHON Worst she can do is say no. Only way to find out is ask her on a date. NICK That makes total sense. I literally just gave you the same advice. NICK Yeah, but it sounded better coming from grandpa. CASSIE Okay. Eyes are closed. GRACE Are they actually closed? No peeking. CASSIE Uh okay. I’m not peeking, but hurry. I’ve been waiting months for you to surprise me with this dress. GRACE Ta-da! CASSIE Grace. It’s beautiful. You’re beautiful. GRACE You promise you like it? CASSIE I love it. GRACE Okay. CASSIE Wow. I know it’s been quite a journey getting here, but I know everything is going to be perfect. STEPHANIE I want to see too! STEPHANIE Oh, Grace. You look amazing. ABIGAIL Alright. Enough about you guys. How do I look? ABIGAIL You’ve got to be kidding me. CASSIE Well I guess you two have more in common than you think. STEPHANIE Yeah. We have a problem. ABIGAIL One of us needs a new dress. STEPHANIE Clearly. Which one? GRACE Okay. Well it is my moms wedding. CASSIE And you’ll both look amazing no matter what you wear. STEPHANIE You’re right. I can compromise. So can I. I’ll find a dress that puts this one to shame. STEPHANIE Honestly. GRACE A lot of things keep going wrong. Don’t you think that it’s kind of weird? ABIGAIL No. Me having the same taste as Stephanie, now that’s weird. CASSIE Remember this guy? VINCENT Elvis the elephant. You gave it to me the day we met. CASSIE Yeah, I told you he would always be there when you needed him. VINCENT So were you. VINCENT I hated when you left for college. CASSIE Well, Elvis was supposed to keep you company. VINCENT His stories weren’t as good as yours. Is that why you put him in my suitcase? VINCENT I just didn’t want you to forget me. CASSIE I could never forget you. And I’m so proud of you. VINCENT That means a lot Cassie. I mean, you were the only one who ever believed in CASSIE I’ll never stop. MARTHA Stop! Don’t move. Stephanie - you’re not feeling well. You have a- STEPHANIE -A horrible headache MARTHA I knew it! You see Cassie Nightingale isn’t the only one with intuition. STEPHANIE Okay, well. Cassie creates this amazing blend of aroma therapy oils for pain. Do you think you can make me that? MARTHA Of course! MARTHA Now, let’s see. Oh uh.. MARTHA Let’s do this the old fashioned way, shall we? MARTHA Marthas magic. Take two and call me in the morning. Any other STEPHANIE Well, since you seem to know everybody and everything about them. What can you tell me about Adam the hospital chaplain? MARTHA Why? Are you inquiring about his relationship status? STEPHANIE I might be. MARTHA Well I happen to know that he’s quite single and quite the catch. Oh, but you’re not seriously considering pursuing him are you? STEPHANIE Why? MARTHA Well it would be like wearing two different socks. STEPHANIE What’s that supposed to mean? MARTHA I’m just afraid that you may be reaching for the stars. STEPHANIE Really? STEPHANIE Huh. Well we’ll see about that. MARTHA Was it something I said? SAM Hey. GEORGE Hey Sam. SAM Does anything look familiar? GEORGE I recognize that old church steeple in the background. SAM So if I can find that church, I’ll find the Forever Tree? GEORGE You might. But you got one problem doc, that church was torn down about sixty years ago. SAM I got two days, George. Can you at least point me in the general area? GEORGE A lot of that land got cleared for new farms. I hate to break it to you but there’s a good chance that tree got cleared with it. SAM Well, it it’s out there, I’ll find it. GEORGE Good luck. JENNIFER Well, I really appreciate all your hospitality especially when you’ve got everything else going on. CASSIE Sam and I couldn’t imagine you not being here. JENNIFER Classical guitar? CASSIE Yeah, a customer traded that.. bring back some memories? JENNIFER Jonathon used to play our wedding song on one just like this. JENNIFER Those were the days. CASSIE I bet there are plenty more of those days. SAM My two favourite ladies. CASSIE What a nice surprise. CASSIE Aw, so sweet. Thank you. JENNIFER Someone raised you right. CASSIE Yes. Someone did. JENNIFER Could I give you both one little piece of advice? SAM Yeah. CASSIE Of course. JENNIFER Never stop doing the little things. JENNIFER Now.. JENNIFER I’m going to go do some shopping. LINDSAY Hey! NICK Hey. LINDSAY Still a man of few words. NICK Well, actually I- LINDSAY Easy, girl. LINDSAY I think she likes you. NICK Cool. LINDSAY Did you want to try? NICK Sure. LINDSAY Wait. You have to go in circular motions. LINDSAY Yeah, perfect. NICK You really know what you’re doing. LINDSAY Well I better. I’m going to be a veterinarian specializing in zoology and surgery. NICK Wow. LINDSAY Yeah. I just applied for early decision at Cornell. It’s the top veterinarian school in the country. NICK Sounds like you have your whole future planned out. LINDSAY Don’t you? NICK Yeah. Of course. It’s really important to know what you want. I’m waiting to hear, too. LINDSAY Oh, from what school? NICK I don’t really want to jinx it. Sorry, it’s stressful enough. LINDSAY Definitely. LINDSAY Oh, did you want to ask me something? NICK Nah, I’m good. Uh, could you show me the circle thing again? LINDSAY Yeah. LINDSAY You have to press pretty hard. ABIGAIL Guess what I have. CASSIE Oh. A mock up bouquet? ABIGAIL I totally outdid myself which is impressive considering I am juggling my shop and running this town. CASSIE Oh, it’s beautiful. CASSIE And I appreciate all your hard work. ABIGAIL Since I took such good care of you, I need you to do one thing for me. CASSIE Make sure you’re the one to catch it? ABIGAIL I’ll be standing in the back on the right. CASSIE Okay. If you do catch it, is there a lucky guy in mind? ABIGAIL Sadly, the man of my dreams is only in my dreams. CASSIE Or maybe right outside your door. ABIGAIL Yeah, right. ABIGAIL I gotta get these back to the shop. ABIGAIL I’ll see you at home. ABIGAIL Excuse me! ABIGAIL Hello! DONOVAN What do you think you’re doing? ABIGAIL I was gonna ask you the same thing. DONOVAN I was just picking up a newspaper. I like to keep up on what’s going on in town. ABIGAIL Actually, you’re disturbing the town. Not to mention, you’re parked illegally. DONOVAN Didn’t realize. ABIGAIL I should write you a ticket. DONOVAN Are you a police officer? ABIGAIL I’m the mayor. DONOVAN Mayor of Blairsville never complains. ABIGAIL Well, you’re in Middleton now or did you not realize that either? ABIGAIL Hey! CASSIE Hey there. CASSIE Everything okay? GRACE Everything’s fine. Of course. GRACE Don’t look. CASSIE Oh. Okay I’m not looking. JONATHON This screw looks pretty stripped. SAM Want to use the needle-nose pliers to yank it out? JONATHON No, that’ll split the wood. GEORGE I was gonna tackle that door next week. JONATHON Oh well, I hope you don’t mind my jumping in. GEORGE Anything else on my list you’d like to do, help yourself. GEORGE I’ll be in my hammock. JENNIFER Hello boys. SAM Hi mom. JENNIFER Hello sweetie. SAM Want me to help you with those bags? JENNIFER No. I’ve got surprises in here and if you see them, then they won’t be surprises. JENNIFER Bet your father broke that just so he could fix it. JENNIFER I know how he operates. JONATHON If you two are done, would you hand me a flat head screwdriver? JENNIFER Well, I’ll let you two bond. SAM You two havin’ a fight? JONATHON Not that I’m aware of. SAM You hardly looked at her. JONATHON Well I know what she looks like. Could I have that flat head? JONATHON Thank you. VINCENT Your mom seems happy. GRACE Yeah, she is. I’m really glad that she found Sam. VINCENT But you miss your dad, don’t you? GRACE Did you know my dad? VINCENT I only met him once, but he’s the kind of guy you never forget. VINCENT You know I lost my parents when I was young so I get how you feel. I mean, it’s not easy. ABIGAIL Can you believe that one of our esteemed citizens just asked me to dedicate a statue to their parakeet? VINCENT It is a noble bird. ABIGAIL I’m guessing you’re the Vincent I’ve heard so much about. VINCENT Guilty. GRACE Well she is the mayor. She can pardon you. ABIGAIL Not sure he deserves it. ABIGAIL Would you mind stopping by the shop later to help me with the rest of the wedding flowers? GRACE I will be there. ABIGAIL Nice to meet you Vincent. ADAM Hi Stephanie. STEPHANIE Adam. Hey. ADAM This place is great. STEPHANIE Well thanks for saying that. I work really hard at it. ADAM Nothing worth having comes easy, right? STEPHANIE Theodore Roosevelt. ADAM I’m impressed. STEPHANIE Well now that I’ve impressed you, what can I get for you? ADAM Twelve cups of OJ please. STEPHANIE You really like juice, huh? ADAM Not as much as the kids on my baseball team. STEPHANIE You’re a coach? ADAM I try, yes. STEPHANIE Well I am sure they learn a lot from you. ADAM I learn a lot from them too. ADAM You okay? STEPHANIE Yeah, I just love baseball. ADAM Do you have a favourite team? STEPHANIE Uh huh! It’s um.. what’s your favourite team? ADAM Die-hard cubs. STEPHANIE Me too. Cubs die-hard. Oh- STEPHANIE I’m such a klutz. STEPHANIE Maybe we are mismatched socks. ADAM I’m sorry? STEPHANIE No, I’m sorry. I’m gonna go get you that juice. ADAM Thanks. It’s pretty hot out there. STEPHANIE In here too. SAM Four years later and I finally like drinking tea. CASSIE No you don’t. SAM No, I really don’t. CASSIE But, I love you for doing it for me. SAM There’s nothing I wouldn’t do for you. CASSIE You keep talking like that and I might have to marry you. SAM How’s tomorrow? CASSIE Oh, I might happen to have some time in my schedule. CASSIE Hi George. CASSIE Oh, you seem to be on a mission. GEORGE No, I just wanted to have a word with Sam. CASSIE Oh well, your timing is perfect. I was just headed out. GEORGE Look what I have. It’s a Middleton map. GEORGE It must be at least a hundred years old. SAM Yeah, it looks it. GEORGE See this little thing right here? SAM Uh, barely. GEORGE That’s the old church. The tree seems to be somewhere in Foster’s Woods so you pinpoint the church, you’re gonna be darn close to the tree. VINCENT Looks like that’s from the eighteen hundreds. SAM I guess you know your maps. VINCENT Yeah. You can see from the border lines, the colours, even the creases in the paper. I used one to sail a Saudi prince’s yacht to an ancient port. GEORGE We’re trying to find the Forever Tree. SAM There’s a Merrywick family lore that does with it. I wanted to surprise Cassie. VINCENT Oh I'd love to help. Why don’t I come with you? SAM That sounds great. GRACE What inspired all this? NICK I’m trying to figure out how early decision works. GRACE Well the early ship has sailed. At this point you are late. NICK Well how late? GRACE Only by like.. 5 months? NICK Well that's a problem. GRACE Why? NICK I kind of told a girl that I met at the ranch that I applied. GRACE Why? NICK Because I was trying to impress her. GRACE By lying. That is not exactly impressive. NICK And that's not exactly helpful. GRACE You want my help? GRACE Try being honest. VINCENT Far as I can tell, we should head a little further south. VINCENT Yeah. Yeah. That’s definitely it. If the tree’s out there, it’s this way. SAM Looks like you’re enjoying this. VINCENT I love it, man. It’s like when I chart a destination and head out on the high seas. Just me vs nature. VINCENT Guess it’s hard to explain. SAM I think you explained it pretty well. VINCENT You ever feel that way? SAM I do.. right before surgery. VINCENT Set a goal. Conquer it. Cassie taught me that. SAM Doubt Cassie used the word conquer. VINCENT Yeah, that’s not really in her vocabulary, but she always talked about never letting your situation get in the way of your goals. She’d say, “If you follow your heart, you’ll be successful in life.” SAM Now that sounds like Cassie. VINCENT You know I was a handful as a kid. She was the first person who made me feel like things might be okay. SAM Why’d you stay away so long? VINCENT I wanted to see her, but I was trying to make something of myself first. You know for a long time I was stepping up to the plate and only hitting singles. I wanted Cassie to see a guy who was blasting home runs. SAM I’m guessing you’ve played some ball. VINCENT Second base.. and when I’m not on a boat, it’s where I feel the most at home. SAM I’m starting to think I misjudged you. VINCENT Yeah, I had a feeling you didn’t like me very much. SAM Well, tell you what. You help me find this tree, you’ll have a friend for life. VINCENT Does effort count? Cause as far as I can tell, it’s one of these needles in the haystack. SAM Well, let's start looking for carved initials. ABIGAIL Ou comfort food. ABIGAIL Mayor Pershing.. ABIGAIL Just leave it on my desk. Thanks for calling. Bye. ABIGAIL A constitute wants me to fix his parking ticket. I get calls like that all day long. CASSIE You know I could get you a slice. ABIGAIL No, it’s okay. I’ll just eat yours. ABIGAIL Also, I’m taking Martha from you today if that’s okay. She’s helping me at the flower shop. ABIGAIL This mayor thing is out of control. CASSIE Well I’m fine with that, but how does Martha feel? ABIGAIL She wants me to get her house moved back to Middleton so she can be mayor again. CASSIE What do you want? Cause it sounds like you’re ready to resign. ABIGAIL I’m so ready.. but I’m not ready to give Martha the satisfaction. ABIGAIL I’ve gotta go put the finishing touches on the wedding flowers. ABIGAIL Mayor Pershing.. CASSIE Hey! Where have you two been? VINCENT Uh out looking for a buried treasure. CASSIE In Middleton.. together? SAM It is a town full of surprises. CASSIE I think it’s great. SAM It had its moments. SAM I’m going to go take a shower. CASSIE Sounds like you two found common ground. VINCENT Yeah, I guess he couldn’t resist my charm. CASSIE Well, who could? VINCENT You know being here with you, it feels like home. CASSIE It’s a home you’re always welcome in. VINCENT In that case maybe I’ll stick around a while. MARTHA So you see Henry, if you use the right turn of phrase to say “get well” you don’t even need a bouquet! HENRY Thank you. MARTHA You’re welcome. ABIGAIL You haven’t sold a single flower today, have you? MARTHA Now that you mention it, it has been rather slow but that hasn’t stopped me from doling out advice. My wisdom simply cannot be contained behind a register. ABIGAIL Let me guess. You and your wisdom would prefer to be in city hall. MARTHA You know in my search for Martha 2.0, I have come to the conclusion that the Martha that I like best is.. well.. mayor Martha. ABIGAIL Mayor Pershing.. ABIGAIL No! I’m sorry, I can't help you. MARTHA What was that? ABIGAIL The last straw. SAM Tell me you're not putting these pictures out where anyone can actually see them. CASSIE Throwback photos are a tradition at weddings. Our guests will love them. SAM The groom won’t. CASSIE Well the groom was an adorable kid. SAM The bride was an adorable kid. SAM I guess I was pretty cute too. JONATHON Do I have a say in that? CASSIE Only if you say something nice. JONATHON Pass. SAM Really glad you’re here, dad. JENNIFER What’d he do this time? SAM Refuse to admit that I was a cute kid. JONATHON Do you have any newspaper I can put under this paint? CASSIE In the recycling bin outside the door. JONATHON Okay. CASSIE Jennifer, you should try some of my buttercream cupcakes. They're on the counter. JENNIFER That sounds good, thank you. JENNIFER What’s the annual flight of the fireflies? I was reading that. JONATHON I’m trying to paint here. CASSIE Every year thousands of fireflies return to a clearing in Fosters Woods and they all light up at the same time. It’s really amazing to watch. JENNIFER I would love to see that. SAM And I’m sure dad would love to take you. JENNIFER We never do things like this anymore. JONATHON Okay. You wanna see some bugs that light up, we’ll go see some bugs. JENNIFER It’s a date. JONATHON Perfect. JENNIFER You know I’m really glad you needed this newspaper otherwise I never would have seen this. CASSIE That was lucky. LINDSAY Hey you. If I’d know you were coming I would’ve worn my good boots. LINDSAY I’ve been trying to connect with that horse. I feel like he wants to tell me something, but I just don't know what. NICK I know how he feels. LINDSAY Sorry, what? NICK Nothing. Actually, I was hoping we could talk. Maybe later tonight? We could get dessert. LINDSAY How ‘bout a round of Destination over icecream? NICK Great. We could go to the bistro and they have great wifi so- LINDSAY Bring your ghost armor, you're gonna need it. I’m just gonna go put her away. LINDSAY Come on. VINCENT We have a contract. VINCENT Jon, we go back a lot of years, don't do this.. VINCENT Fine, I’ll leave the keys with the harbourmaster. SAM Is everything okay? VINCENT Great.. just need a little air. ABIGAIL Mayor Davenport, I’m Mayor Pershing.. DONOVAN Absolutely. I love cats. I’ll see you tomorrow. DONOVAN Actually I’m more of a dog person, but you gotta keep the constituents happy. ABIGAIL You’re the mayor. DONOVAN Donovan Davenport. It is a pleasure to officially meet you. DONOVAN Did you come to give me that ticket for disturbing the peace? ABIGAIL Wow. You think you’re really charming, don’t you? DONOVAN It doesn’t matter what I think. It’s all about the voters. ABIGAIL I vote no. DONOVAN Well lucky for me, you don't live in Blairsville. ABIGAIL Unlucky for you, Martha Tinsdale does. DONOVAN What can I do for you? ABIGAIL You can agree to a deal to return the town line to where it was, so that Martha can become a citizen of Middleton again. DONOVAN And what’s in it for me.. or should I say, Blairsville? ABIGAIL Goodwill between our towns. ABIGAIL What do you want? DONOVAN Actually, I want to keep things the way they are. Martha’s a formidable political opponent, why would I wanna make it possible for her to return to office? ABIGAIL And I’m not a formidable opponent? DONOVAN You said it. Not me. Now if you don’t mind, I have work to do. ABIGAIL It would appear so do I. GRACE You open it. Nope, I’ll open it. CASSIE It’s the same dress as it was in the last fitting. GRACE I know, but three weeks ago we didn’t have the shoes, jewelry, veil. I’m finally going to be able to see you as a complete bride. GRACE What is it? CASSIE It’s probably nothing. GRACE You don’t get that look over nothing. GRACE Oh no. CASSIE What’s wrong? GRACE It’s been eaten by moths. GRACE It’s ruined.
