ABIGAIL BRANDON CASSIE EVE GEORGE GRACE JARED LIAM MARGARET MARTHA MELANIE MELINDA MRS_KIM NARRATOR NICK PHIL RISA SAM STEPHANIE TARA TOM NARRATOR Previously on "Good Witch". ABIGAIL Sounds like you have an admirer. STEPHANIE You think? ABIGAIL How many reviews called the restaurant owner attractive? CASSIE Solving another local crisis? MARTHA The city never sleeps. PHIL What made you end up in Middleton? ABIGAIL It's a place to live. CASSIE What kind of flowers are those? MELINDA Cyclamens. CASSIE I love the flowers we saw today for our wedding. And I read about this great idea where we write each other letters the night before we get married. SAM I love that. ABIGAIL I can't believe you're putting together an entire wedding in less than three weeks. CASSIE When you're ready to get married, the answer is why wait. CASSIE Good morning. GRACE Morning. CASSIE I made you some toast. GRACE Thank you. What are you up to, Grandpa? GEORGE Oh, these curtains keep falling off the rod, so I'm hooking them back up with these things I found in an old vanity. GRACE Those are hair clips. GEORGE Call them anything you want. All I know is that they hold -- this to this. GRACE So, mom, have you decided what time you want your bachelorette party to start Friday night? CASSIE Ooo, I don't know. Seven o'clock? GRACE I'll get started on the invitations. CASSIE Morning, Sam. GEORGE Ah there he is - our groom-to-be. SAM Ten more days. GRACE The countdown has begun. GEORGE When are you going to have your bachelor party, Sam? SAM I'm not planning on having one. CASSIE You're not? SAM Nah. It's not really my thing. GEORGE That's too bad. I was kind of looking forward to letting my hair down. But now I guess I'll have to hold it up with one of these. CASSIE Oh, come on in, Martha. MARTHA Well, the front door was open, so I already did. I came by to see if you have any more of that thread that we used the last time we all worked together on a wish quilt. CASSIE I think I do. Should be in this drawer. MARTHA Has Cassie told you about the gift that the ladies of Middleton will be presenting to the two of you? GRACE We're making you a wish quilt. SAM Well, I'll still act surprised. Which will be easy, because I don't know what a "wish quilt" is. CASSIE It's a Middleton tradition. GRACE And it was started by -- let me get this right -- my great, great, great, great grandmother. CASSIE Katharine Merriwick. MARTHA All the bride's friends get together to sew a quilt made up of squares that mean something to the bride and groom. CASSIE And they say if you make a wish while working on it, that wish will come true. MARTHA Well, mostly it’s to emphasize our connection to each of you and how grateful we are to have you both in our lives. GRACE Or you can use it to keep your feet warm when the get cold. SAM Oh, well then I already know it's a gift I'm going to use. MARTHA Oh and Grace, I'll see you and the quilters this afternoon, at Needlework. Bring your finest sewing hands. GRACE I carry them with me wherever I go. GEORGE Goodbye Martha. MARTHA Oh, hello George. BRANDON Morning Abigail. ABIGAIL Brandon. You're the right person to ask -- Is this a good neighborhood? BRANDON Every neighborhood in Middleton is a good neighborhood. ABIGAIL But are the homeowners nice? Do they take in their trash bins in? Do they throw loud parties? I'm thinking about buying a place for myself. BRANDON You're moving out of Grey House? ABIGAIL Well, Sam's moving in after the wedding and I figured I should give them some space. It seems like the right time to make a change. And I never really thought about Middleton as the place I'd live forever but... It's starting to feel like home. BRANDON That's great. Well, when you find a place you like, let me know and I can tell you if the neighbors are friendly or not. They're all pretty friendly. ABIGAIL But are these people going to want to invite me to backyard barbecues and chat about the weather over the fence? BRANDON You know, that kind of thing actually happens a lot in Middleton. ABIGAIL Well, I still think I'm going to enjoy having a place of my own, anyway. MARTHA Cassie, I need your help. CASSIE Oh, sure, just let me finish helping this customer. MARTHA What? Oh, drink some tea and light a candle. That'll perk you right up. CASSIE I'll just be a minute. MARTHA Do you sell purses? CASSIE Martha, I don't have everything -- MARTHA I knew it was a long shot. CASSIE -- but I did have some things brought over by the high school drama department this morning, maybe there's some purses in there. MARTHA Then I'll take a look. I was working on that wish quilt of yours when I realized I'd accidentally given away a purse that would have gone perfectly with the dress I bought for your wedding. CASSIE Grace is really looking forward to getting together with all of you and sewing on her square. MARTHA And it's so wonderful to see the excitement of youth. Which is why I didn't want to say anything about not getting her hopes up about this silly "When you wish upon a quilt" idea. CASSIE You don't believe in that? MARTHA I grew up working on quilts with my mother, and she would always ask me what new toy I wished for. Then -- lo and behold -- it would appear like magic. But I figured out it was she who was doing the shopping. CASSIE That was nice of her, though, to make sure you got your wishes. MARTHA Perhaps. But eventually I had to get used to the realities of life rather than just the fantasies of the wide-eyed child that I was. CASSIE I like to believe there's a wide- eyed child in all of us. MARTHA Well, mine still needs a purse for your wedding, so... CASSIE What kind are you looking for? MARTHA I'd be thrilled if I could find something like the one I gave away. It had pearl-colored beads over a silver base and -- there it is. How did the purse I gave away make its way here? CASSIE The right things always seem to come back to those who love them. MARTHA Well, I certainly love this. CASSIE I know. I can tell by how wide-eyed you've become. MARTHA I'm so glad that all of us could finally get together and start working on this. I really should have started weeks ago but if we keep at it I think we can have the quilt done by Cassie's bachelorette party -- GRACE -- which I'll be passing out invitations for later this week, but it'll be on Friday at Grey House, at seven. But you guys are still gonna get invitations because I made them myself and they look great. STEPHANIE How big are these supposed to be? MARTHA You can use this square as a guide. STEPHANIE Thank you. I'm making a square out of an apron from the Bistro. MARTHA That's a wonderful idea. STEPHANIE And it comes with a complimentary dinner for two for the first time Sam and Cassie want to come in as a married couple. MARTHA Even more perfect. EVE That looks really good. ABIGAIL Yeah, it turned out great. It's the same color as the first rose that Sam bought for Cassie. Boy, if I had a dollar for every flower he's bought her... I guess I have a lot more than that. A man in love is always easy to up-sell. MARTHA Well, I'm going to put the town crest on mine -- the new one, since we just had it redesigned. STEPHANIE Well, you did a great job. MARTHA Oh, you're too kind. So what is the maid of honor's square going to have? GRACE Well, I put my name and my birthday and I'm sewing this pair of socks on, too, which mom said used to be my favorite but now they'd barely fit on a toe. Although they do look comfy... MARTHA Well, I'm sure the sight of those will make your mother very happy -- just as happy as she'll be when you present her with the "four somethings." GRACE The four somethings? TARA It's for the bride on the wedding day: something old, something new, something borrowed, and something blue. STEPHANIE The maid of honor is supposed to get those. GRACE I didn't know I was supposed to do that. I hadn't even thought about it. MARTHA I'd be happy to find them for you. GRACE Really? ABIGAIL Martha used to be a wedding planner so she's got lots of experience thinking about these kinds of things. MARTHA I don't want to brag but prenuptial preparations is one of my many strong suits. I can find you four somethings in my sleep. GRACE Thanks. JARED Excuse me, Madam Mayor -- ABIGAIL Jared. Pull up a square. JARED Oh, no, I'm just here to get some papers signed. MARTHA A mayor's work is never done... JARED This month's new business licenses were dated incorrectly -- MARTHA Who did that? JARED There's no need to name names. It was me. But we'll get this batch signed and we can go ahead and have them open just as planned. MARTHA Alright, let's see. The Oasis Day Spa? Where's that? STEPHANIE Oh, it's right around the corner from the Bistro. I'm catering their opening event tomorrow. MARTHA In that case I'd better give them the official "okay." TARA I would love to spend a day at a spa. MARTHA Who wouldn't? EVE A whole day just getting pampered? ABIGAIL Sign me up, too. JARED This is going to turn into a very interesting blanket. EVE It's a quilt, actually. JARED What's the difference between a quilt and a blanket? GRACE A quilt has baby socks on them. JARED Ah. NICK After you guys get married, are we going to have dinners like this together every night? CASSIE We don't have to do it every night. NICK Oh. I was kind of hoping we would. I mean, I'm going to need a place to eat... SAM So many mouths to feed. CASSIE Did you have a nice time with Martha, working on the quilt? GRACE We had a great time, I mean working together and talking about what we wanted to do for fun. Oh, did you know there's a new spa opening up near the Bistro? CASSIE Oasis? GRACE Yes. That's it. Everybody was talking about how much they would love to have a day there so they're going to get plenty of business. CASSIE Maybe I'll take my maid of honor there some time before the wedding so we can relax. GRACE She would like that very much. CASSIE I remember doing that kind of thing with my friend, Melanie, before her big day. GRACE Who's Melanie? CASSIE Melanie Anderson. We did some volunteer work together at the end of college and got really close. Then, when she got married the week after graduation, she asked me to be her maid of honor... which was the last time the two of us saw each other. SAM What happened? CASSIE Life, I guess. We both went off to different parts of the world and just kind of lost track of each other. That happened a lot before the internet thing. GRACE In ancient times... CASSIE I tried to look her up on-line but I don't know what name she was going by so... I guess I'll just have to get by with the memories. SAM This is ready. NICK Does that mean we can eat? SAM As soon as somebody sets the table. NICK We have to use dishes? SAM We are still guests here. EVE Thanks so much for coming in, Mrs. Kim. EVE Doctor Radford is trying to see as many patients as he can before he goes off on his honeymoon. MRS KIM He was going to give me a referral? EVE I'll print out the doctor's name. Ugh, this has been happening all week. It freezes up every time I try and print something. I'll write it down for you. SAM Who's next? Ah, Mister Casio. Come on back. EVE And here you are. MRS KIM Thank you. GRACE Hi, Risa. RISA Oh, Grace. Do you know anyone who has enough room to take care of three dogs? GRACE Awwwww... RISA I've been fostering these guys for the last couple of days and I want to make sure they all end up together. GRACE You never want to split up good friends. RISA They're really well-behaved and they love to play and the one in the middle when he's scratched behind the ears he sighs really loudly. GRACE Well, at least he and I have one thing in common. I will spread the word. RISA Thanks. GRACE Mom. Hey Tara. CASSIE Hey honey. Have you had lunch? GRACE No, I was just about to. CASSIE Tara and I were just waiting for a table. TARA Do you want to join us? It's on me. GRACE Well then I got here just in time. MARTHA Oh, Cassie. Do you have any more of that pink salt you sold me that's better for Tom's heart? CASSIE I do. MARTHA I'm going to need more until we hear about Tom's test. He went in for a cholesterol check but apparently there's some sort of backlog at the lab and I want him to keep eating healthily while we wait for the results. CASSIE Here you go. TARA Why are you carrying pink salt around in your purse? CASSIE Because if I carried it in my hands, it would fall through my fingers. LIAM When's your car supposed to be fixed? STEPHANIE I don't know. Every couple of days my mechanic just says, "In a couple more days." LIAM Well, if you need anyone to carry any more boxes for you -- STEPHANIE I'll let you know. Thanks. MARTHA So what's all this? STEPHANIE These are gift baskets from the grand opening of Oasis. The owner gave them to me as a "thank you" for catering the event, and I wanted to give one to each of you. There's a gift certificates for a free day in every one. TARA Are these good any time? STEPHANIE Yep. For a full day of pampering. MARTHA Respite for a mayor's weary bones... GRACE I'll take it for my bones, too. CASSIE That's quite the coincidence. MARTHA What is? CASSIE Well, Grace told me you all wished for a day at the spa and you got what you wanted. GRACE Yeah, I guess we did. CASSIE Maybe that quilt you're all working on is already doing its job. MARTHA This is coming along so well. GRACE I know. My mom and Sam are going to love it. TARA What are those? MARTHA I had these lapel pins made up to match the new design of the crest. I thought I'd pin a pair onto the quilt. ABIGAIL Because -- the more Middleton, the better? MARTHA Grace, let me know when you're finished with that sashing, and I'll have you work on the border. GRACE Well, in that case, I can get started on the border right now. Done. MARTHA What? How did you finish so fast? And every stitch is perfect. GRACE Oh, and look what I found. If we need another square. It was in the trunk that came from the art institute. ABIGAIL With Elizabeth Merriwick's clothes? GRACE It's got her initials right here. And I think it's just about the right size to be a square on the quilt. MARTHA We'll figure out where it fits and then we'll sew it on at the very end. Excuse me, I can't even get a moment away... Yes, Jared... Tonight? No, I can't do tonight, I definitely can't do tonight. I don't know, they'll just have to play three handed! Honestly, you'd think that not having a fourth for pinochle was the end of the world -- as if they can't get by one week without me. ABIGAIL I could sit in, if they need to fill another seat. TARA You play pinochle? ABIGAIL No, but I want to meet new people and how hard can it be? MARTHA The game has taken me a lifetime to master. ABIGAIL Ooh, that long? Just tell them I'll be there. MARTHA Fine. But those women take their card playing very seriously, so -- ABIGAIL I will make sure I look very serious when I show up. STEPHANIE Hide the quilt, ladies, the bride to-be is here. MARTHA Cassie, come on in. CASSIE No, no. It's okay. I was just dropping Stephanie off but I don't want to see anything until it's finished. MARTHA We can keep it out of sight. CASSIE Okay. STEPHANIE Cassie and I were just discussing when we can get to Oasis and use our gift certificates -- And I have one for you, too. ABIGAIL Thank you. I heard you got a bunch of free days there. GRACE It was kind of like what we wished for. MARTHA As if one thing had anything to do with the other. CASSIE Well, you did get your purse back, too. MARTHA I suppose I did... CASSIE What would you wish for, Tara? If there was something you always wanted? TARA Well, remember after I got my master's, I was going to go for my PhD? GRACE At Cambridge. TARA I was doing lab work at school and really liking it and -- I kind of wish I could do it again. CASSIE What about you, Martha? MARTHA I'd wish for what every mayor wants: just one day without people wanting so many moments of my time. So I could finish this quilt and get ready for your wedding. GRACE You know what I'd wish for? I'd wish for Risa to find a place for those dogs. I don't want them to get split up and worry where the other ones went. STEPHANIE And I'd wish for a personal chauffeur so I didn't have to be drive me around everywhere. Oh, and three more wishes. But I guess I would have had to wish for that first. CASSIE And you, Abigail? ABIGAIL That "three more wishes" thing sounds like the right way to go. CASSIE But after that. ABIGAIL I don't know. Maybe... I don't know. CASSIE Well, when you decide on something, let me know if it ever comes true. SAM Cassie. CASSIE It was really good to see you. SAM What are you doing here? CASSIE I was just in the neighborhood and wanted to say "hi" to one of my customers. SAM I didn't think your customers ever needed places like this. CASSIE There are a few who don't do exactly as I say... TARA Hi, Cassie. Sam. Oops, I guess I should call you "Doctor Radford" when we're at work. SAM When did you get a job at the hospital? TARA This is my first day. The lab called last night and said they've been behind with test results and would I be interested in helping as an assistant. SAM I didn't even know you had applied. TARA They still had my resume from a few years ago and -- I don't know, it somehow ended up at the top of the stack. Maybe what they say about that quilt really is true. CASSIE What? SAM I saw you talking to the hospital administrator who does the hiring for the lab. CASSIE Oh, is she the one that handles that sort of thing? SAM Are you the one who told her Tara would be good for the job? CASSIE I don't know the details of hospital hiring practices... SAM Don't you? CASSIE Sometimes things just happen, Sam. SAM As if by magic? CASSIE If you say so. GRACE Hi, Abigail. ABIGAIL Hello, Grace. GRACE I brought you something. It's the official invitation to my mom's party. Tomorrow night. ABIGAIL I wouldn't miss it. GRACE I know how excited she is to see the quilt. And hear if our wishes came true. ABIGAIL I might be sitting that part of the conversation out. Wishes and I don't really have a great history together.... GRACE Abigail. What you wrote in that birthday book was a long time ago. ABIGAIL And I've regretted Shawn McLaughlin my whole life. GRACE But if you were to wish for something, what would it be? ABIGAIL Can I just go with an overall "something other than a guy"? GRACE You can go with whatever you want. ABIGAIL Because I guess what I want the most right now is to, I don't know, settle in. Meet people who feel the same way about Middleton as I do. People who look at this place like it's their home. And actually want to stay here. GRACE There are plenty of people like that. ABIGAIL Well, I can't just around and wait for them to walk through my door. GRACE Liam. LIAM Oh, hey, Grace. Hi. ABIGAIL Hey. Can I help you? LIAM Yeah. I want to get some flowers and maybe some chocolates for my neighbors. They're having me over for dinner tonight and have really made me feel welcome. Which is just another reason I love living here. ABIGAIL Middleton's a really nice place, isn't it? LIAM Yeah. I don't know why anyone would ever want to leave. SAM I don't recognize half the things on that shelf. CASSIE This is where they keep the organic and all-natural foods. SAM That explains it. MARTHA Oh, would you look at that? Even before they're married, they're already shopping together. Putting all of Middleton's other couples to shame. SAM That's our goal. CASSIE What are you two doing here this time of night? MARTHA I had to make an appearance at a neighborhood watch meeting and Jared wants something to raise his blood sugar before he drives me back to city hall. JARED I feel like I need to be at my most alert when transporting such precious cargo. MARTHA Now, no doddling. I've got wall- to-wall meetings tomorrow that I need to prepare for -- which is barely leaving me any time to help get things ready for your party, like I promised your daughter I would. CASSIE Then I hope you find the extra few moments that you need. MARTHA Oh. Was that me? JARED No, mine. Oh, it looks like your morning meeting got cancelled. MARTHA Well, that's a bit of good news. JARED And the one after that needs to reschedule till next week. MARTHA Fine with me. JARED And the City Manager needs to push tomorrow's working lunch to some day next month and also wants you to know that the sanitation department doesn't need to get together until Tuesday. MARTHA Wait. Does that mean that suddenly tomorrow is completely clear? JARED You have the entire day to yourself. MARTHA Well, that's like a wish come true! In fact, that's exactly what I wished for on that quilt. SAM Really... MARTHA Oh, come on. Let's get you fueled up so I can get home and start my day of freedom as early as tonight. JARED Yes, Madam Mayor. SAM Well, that was nice of you. CASSIE What'd I do? SAM I'm not quite sure. I'm watching you, Nightingale. CASSIE You let me know what you see. SAM Oh, I will. I will. SAM Is that the same kind of cake that Stephanie brought to my surprise party? CASSIE I knew it was your favorite. SAM It's really good. CASSIE Oh. You seem happy. GRACE That's because Risa found a place for these dogs. Somebody saw the flyer and said they have the perfect home for them. With plenty of room to play and they can all stay together. CASSIE Well, that's great to hear. GRACE I'm going to go get a coffee. CASSIE Okay. SAM And the list keeps growing... CASSIE What are we keeping a list about? SAM Something tells me that your daughter mixed a little wish-making into her quilt-sewing. And that you had something to do with making it come true. CASSIE I don't know how I could have done that... SAM But you're not saying you didn't. CASSIE I don't think I'm saying anything. SAM Why don't you? Why don't you tell people what's going on so that they know all these things don't just "happen." CASSIE There's nothing wrong with letting people see that there's magic in the world? BRANDON Hey you two. So I hear that you're not having a bachelor party. SAM No. Sorry. BRANDON Come on. I was looking forward to you know, hanging out with the guys. CASSIE You might still have a chance to hang out with the guys. BRANDON Yeah. But not with Sam as the center of attention. SAM That. Me being the center of attention, that's enough reason for me not to wanting to go. BRANDON Alright. I get it. See you later. SAM See ya. How do you think Stephanie makes this? CASSIE Maybe one day she'll let you in on her secrets. ABIGAIL Liam. Hi. LIAM Hi, Abigail. Do you have a second? I have something I need to talk to you about. ABIGAIL With me? LIAM Well, you're the one I came here to see. ABIGAIL Okay... MARGARET Oh, Abigail, I'm glad I caught you. ABIGAIL Margaret. Liam, this is one of the women I played pinochle with last night. LIAM You're playing pinochle now? MARGARET Yes, and she plays like a pro. Which is why the ladies and I voted you into our regular rotation, starting next week. ABIGAIL Isn't that Martha's seat? MARGARET Oh, please. That woman doesn't know a jump bid from a non-trump run. But you seem like you've been playing the game your whole life. ABIGAIL I enjoy it, that's all. MARGARET So you'll join us? ABIGAIL Sure, sign me up. MARGARET Wonderful. It was nice meeting you. LIAM You, too. ABIGAIL So... Sorry. Abigail's. Yes, we do. How many? And it's for pick-up? Four o'clock, sure. Thanks. Sorry. LIAM You know, I can catch you at another time, if you're busy. ABIGAIL No, it's okay -- Just -- Abigail's. Hold please. Now we have all the time you need. LIAM You know what? This is probably something I should talk to you in private about, anyway, so -- maybe another time? ABIGAIL Sure. LIAM Okay -- I'll see you later. EVE How's Mister Borba doing? SAM Oh, well. But could you print out a full listing of his medications? He wants to make sure everything is up to-date. Oh, that's right -- you've been having printer problems. EVE Not anymore. SAM How'd you get it working? EVE Mister Casio came in for a follow- up appointment and worked some sort of magic while he was waiting to see you. SAM So, that's good, then. EVE Sort of like a wish come true. Oh, before I forget, Liam called and he -- let me make sure I get this right... He wants you to meet him at your house at seven PM so he can: "...Escort you to an event that Cassie has planned marking your transition into married life." SAM That sounds like a bachelor party. EVE He told me to tell you it wasn't a bachelor party. See? SAM I guess I could do that. EVE Do you want me to put this into the computer and print it out for you? SAM No. I think I can remember. EVE I'm going to do it, anyway, just so I can see it say "Now printing." SAM Whatever makes you happy. SAM Where are you taking me? LIAM Not too far. And we're here. SAM Cassie wanted you to bring me to Grey House? Why? LIAM All I'm doing is following orders. Let me know if you have a good time. SAM You're not coming inside? LIAM I've got somewhere else to be. SAM Somewhere else? LIAM She said just to go right in! GRACE You made it. SAM I did, but I'm not sure I'm in the right place. STEPHANIE Oh, you're in the right place. ABIGAIL Yeah, this is your party. SAM My... what? GRACE My mom thought you'd like things better this way. SAM So, this is my bachelor party? GRACE Oh, no, no. Of course not. Everybody knew you didn't want one of those. ABIGAIL But Cassie thought maybe you wouldn't mind hanging out with us. GRACE We thought we could all just watch a movie, or maybe play a game -- STEPHANIE And Cassie also suggested that I teach you how to make a cake. SAM We're going to bake a cake? EVE It's that one you really like. SAM Yellow, with chocolate frosting? STEPHANIE Yes, and I bought everything we'll need. SAM Well, this is turning into a party I could learn to love. GRACE Well, before things get too messy in the kitchen... we have something special, just for tonight. I hope you like it because there's one for all of us, too. SAM Well, now it is a party. STEPHANIE Alright, let's get started. You can get crack the eggs over there and I'll sift the flour. SAM I'm on it. TARA I don't suppose the guys are wearing aprons with Cassie's face on it at their party. EVE I doubt it, no. SAM The guys are having a party? Where? CASSIE Nice. Maybe we should team up. GEORGE Although I guess we can't play "boys against the girls." TOM How about whoever can sink a run, to the eight ball, wins? JARED You sound like you've played this game before. TOM I might have spent some time in a hall or two... CASSIE What's a run? TOM All of the solids, or all of the stripes. BRANDON Should we put a little bet on it? CASSIE Sure, how about -- a month's worth of car washes. LIAM That's hardly a bet. CASSIE Okay, then. Let's make it a year? LIAM And now it's a bet. JARED Who goes first? GEORGE It should probably be ladies first. CASSIE Such a gentleman. Okay. Thank you. Alright. What am I aiming at? TOM If you want to go for the solids, you start with the one-ball. CASSIE Okay. The one ball... TOM It's the yellow one, right there. CASSIE Okay. And what happens if I make it? TOM Then you go for two through eight. CASSIE That sounds simple enough. LIAM It's not quite so simple. TOM I'm beginning to think she's played this game before. CASSIE I like my tires extra shiny, and a little extra wax on the hood. SAM When can we eat it? STEPHANIE Well, as soon as it cools. SAM And how long will that take? STEPHANIE A little over an hour. SAM So what are we supposed to do until then? STEPHANIE We make frosting. SAM And this party just keeps getting better and better. MARTHA Yoohoo! SAM Hey there, Martha. Grab an apron. I don't know if there are any more with my face on them, but… MARTHA Oh my. I'm so sorry I don't have time to participate. Grace, I need some more of that thread that your mother gave me for the quilt. I ran out with just a few stitches to go. GRACE She keeps all of that in here. What color? MARTHA I'll take whatever you have. GRACE Here. MARTHA Oh, thank goodness. I'll be back as soon as I'm finished and then we can make the presentation. TARA I can't wait for Sam and Cassie to see it. MARTHA I know, I know. So I'd better work fast. SAM I don't think I've ever heard myself say this but I'm starting to look forward to seeing a quilt. EVE It really is nice. TARA And what they say about in making dreams come true might actually be true. SAM You really believe that there's magic in a blanket? TARA Maybe. SAM Come on... TARA I've wanted to work in a lab for years but hardly ever said it out loud, and then I did say it, and the next day I had a job. STEPHANIE Martha got her day off. EVE My printer started working. GRACE And there are three dogs that have a brand new home. SAM And you all think that's because of the wishes you made? GRACE Well, what's so wrong if we do? STEPHANIE You're actually really good at that. SAM All it takes is a smooth hand... like bisecting a tricuspid valve. ABIGAIL That medical degree's finally good for something. CASSIE So, this is where the party's at? SAM Cassie -- And... everybody. Where have you all been? LIAM At your bachelor party. BRANDON And we had a great time. GEORGE Yeah, the only thing missing was the actual bachelor. CASSIE Although it looks like you guys had fun. SAM We did. I did. LIAM I was hoping you'd be here tonight. ABIGAIL Well, I'm a bachelorette. LIAM So could we maybe, finally, talk? ABIGAIL Um, sure. LIAM Great. How about, uh... MARTHA Oh, good, everyone's here. Tom, do you have the frame for the quilt in the back of the car? TOM I do. I can set it up. JARED Let me give you a hand. MARTHA Good. Now, someone's going to have to clear away all this furniture. This quilt is going to look wonderful. We can display it right here in the center of the room, using the wooden clips that I -- forgot at home! STEPHANIE Is that a problem? MARTHA It's a huge problem. We need something to clip the quilt to the frame and now we have nothing. GEORGE Would some old-fashioned hair clips do the job? MARTHA Hair clips? GEORGE They did a great job attaching a curtain to a rod. Maybe they can do the same thing for the quilt and -- whatever you attach a quilt to. MARTHA I suppose they'll just have to do. GEORGE There's some in the kitchen. SAM So, how was your... Do I call it a bachelor party? CASSIE It was fun. We hung out at the microbrewery. Played some pool. SAM I didn't know you played pool. CASSIE A little bit. SAM Maybe I'll challenge you to a game some time. CASSIE I'm always up for a little friendly competition. ABIGAIL So, what did you want to talk about? LIAM Well, I've been living here for a while now, and I've really started to consider Middleton my home. ABIGAIL Me, too. LIAM And that got me thinking about all the people I've gotten to know here. ABIGAIL Uh-huh... LIAM So I was wondering if you think Stephanie would want to go out with me. ABIGAIL You and Stephanie? LIAM Yeah, well you know her so well, and I don't know why I'm being so "high school" about this, I just... I was wondering if you thought that she might -- or if we might -- I wanted to know what you thought first, that's all. ABIGAIL Let me tell you something about Stephanie. She's a great friend. And a great person. One of the best I know, actually. And I think the two of you would be fantastic together. LIAM Really? ABIGAIL I never say things I don't mean. Well, unless it's for a legitimate purpose. But I meant every word of that. LIAM Then that's good to hear. So, I guess we better get back to the party. ABIGAIL Yeah. We probably should. MARTHA Well, those work just fine. GEORGE I'm going to want these back when we're done. I've grown as attached to them as they were to the curtain rod. MARTHA Grace. As maid of honor it's your job to present the bride with her quilt. GRACE Oh. Ta-da! CASSIE It's really wonderful. Oh look. Your birthday. My favorite day of all. GRACE And my baby socks. CASSIE Yup. I remember when you were that tiny. Oh, and the logo for my store. TARA I did that one. SAM Who did the Rod of Asclepius? EVE I did. And I had to put up with staring at that snake the whole time while I sewed it on. SAM And Nick's birthday! NICK Certainly one of my favorite days... MARTHA And this square features our new Middleton crest -- plus a pair of pins that you can wear as you proudly stroll through town. SAM Because wearing a quilt is probably going to get you some looks. CASSIE Where's this from? ABIGAIL That was Elizabeth Merriwick's. Grace found it in that trunk with all of her clothes. GRACE But we had enough squares so we didn't need it for the quilt. MARTHA And I also didn't use up all of your thread either so maybe you can use it to repair, I don’t know, a teeny, tiny blue doily. CASSIE Everything is beautiful. MARTHA It was a delight to work on it. And it really did make so many of our wishes come true. MELANIE Hello? The door was open -- CASSIE Melanie? What are you doing here? MELANIE I wanted to surprise you... but I didn't mean to interrupt a party. CASSIE No, you are not interrupting. Everyone, this is my friend from college, Melanie. How did you know to come here tonight? MELANIE What's tonight? CASSIE It's a celebration. I'm getting married. MELANIE When? To who? SAM Next week. To me. MELANIE Well, then, I couldn't have picked a better day to get back in touch with my old friend. CASSIE No, you couldn't have. Although I have a feeling that my maid of honor might have had something to do with this wish coming true. GRACE No. I wasn't me. I wouldn't have even known how to make it happen. CASSIE Well, then, how... SAM Don't look at me. I didn't do anything tonight except decorate a cake. CASSIE Well, I'm not going to worry about how you got here; I'm just going to celebrate that you are. MELANIE It's so good to see you. CASSIE How long has it been? MELANIE Well, I have a son who just got his master's degree -- CASSIE And I have a daughter who's about to graduate high school. Grace. GRACE Hi. MELANIE You has your eyes. Does she take after you in other ways, too? CASSIE She takes after me, a little. MELANIE So it's hard to walk into a room without her already knowing you're there? SAM Oh, she used to do that with you, too? MELANIE It drove me crazy! But she also could find the light in any situation. And always seemed to know that things were going to work out for the best. And was there for every single one of her friends whenever that happened. SAM She still does that, too. GRACE Well, Melanie, you got here just in time because -- we made this quilt for my mom and Sam but now you can share in the moment when we give the bride her "four somethings." Mayor Tinsdale. MARTHA Oh. Yes, about that... I was so preoccupied with finishing the quilt I completely forgot about what I had promised to do. GRACE So we don't have what we need? MARTHA I'm afraid not. CASSIE I'm not so sure that we don't. The handkerchief of Elizabeth Merriwick's is something old. And the pins on the crest are something new. MARTHA Because they're the revised design. CASSIE The hair clips were borrowed from George -- GEORGE You're welcome. CASSIE And the thread you used to finish the last stitches is blue. MARTHA The "four somethings..." CASSIE So I can carry all of those with me on our wedding day. GRACE You see, Sam? That blanket might be worth believing in, after all. MARTHA Oh, Abigail. I heard from Margaret that you made quite the impression at the pinochle table. ABIGAIL I managed to meld a few a rounds. MARTHA They told me you'll be sitting in for me for a few weeks. ABIGAIL They invited me... MARTHA Well, you're making the kind of friends in Middleton that will last you well into your old age. ABIGAIL Well, I mean, that's a very long time from now. MARTHA Sure. Rub it in. LIAM Do you have a ride home? STEPHANIE Oh, yeah, I do. Tara's outside waiting for me. Although she said she needs to stop off at the lab on the way, which is quite a detour but... LIAM I can take you straight home, if you'd rather. STEPHANIE Are you sure? LIAM Of course. I'd be happy to be your personal chauffeur. Your chariot awaits. STEPHANIE Thank you. CASSIE I can't believe you just showed up tonight, with so much going on. MELANIE You're the one who always said that things happen right when they're supposed to. CASSIE Well, I'm glad you happened tonight. How long can you stay? MELANIE Just till tomorrow. I have to get back to Cambodia. I'm teaching at a school there. CASSIE Still making the world a better place, are you? MELANIE My guess is you are, too. Wow. A man who helps with the dishes? CASSIE He also decorates a pretty good cake. MELANIE Now I'm even more jealous. SAM Well, it's really good to meet another one of Cassie's friends. MELANIE I'm just so glad I could get here tonight. But I'm gonna get to bed because I want to dive into our "catching up" as soon as possible. CASSIE I'll be up with the sun so we can get started, first thing. MELANIE Good-night. CASSIE Night. Well, that turned into one of the best parties I've ever been to. SAM I just loved seeing you so happy. CASSIE I still can't get over how she just kind of showed up. SAM Well, if you want to believe that sometimes things "just happen." CASSIE You got her here?! How? SAM I did a little detective work. I figured out the date of her wedding, which you said was just a week after you two graduated. And since I knew the city where your college was in I just searched the local records. But she insisted I tell you it was all spur-of-the moment because she wanted to see the look on your face. CASSIE Why didn't you just tell me you were behind it all? SAM I planned to. But after listening to Grace and everyone talk about the wishes they made on that quilt... It made me realize that sometimes it's good to believe in things that can't always be explained. CASSIE You ever going to start telling me any of the things that you'd like to wish for? SAM No. I don't have to. My wish already came true.
