Why do they keep doing that? I can't take it anymore. I just want to sleep.

HARRY
Oh, no, kids, what seems to be the matter today?

LUCY
It's because of the frogs! They sang all night long and it was impossible to get any sleep.

EDMOND
Is there something we can do to make them be quiet?

HARRY
To make them be quiet? If we do that, there won't be any more frogs!

LUCY
Are you trying to tell us that frogs live to sing?

HARRY
No, but daddy frog needs to sing in order to get mommy frog's attention.

EDMOND
And if mommy and daddy frog don't meet, they won't be able to make any baby frogs.

HARRY
Yes, that's right!

LUCY
Can't they sing during the day and sleep at night like everyone else?

HARRY
Make no mistake, not everyone sleeps at night.

LUCY
What? Who else is going to keep me awake? That's enough already. I wanna sleep!

HARRY
Try looking up nocturnal animals.

EDMOND
"Nocturnal animals". Found it! You're right. They do have the frog.

HARRY
They're called nocturnal because they mainly live at night, and rest during the day.

LUCY
But why do they live at night? That's dumb, you can't see anything.

HARRY
Some of these animals have the ability to see in the dark.

EDMOND
Do you mean our friend Pompom the hedgehog can see at night?

LUCY
Oh, wow, that's a great thing to have. Pompom really is lucky!

HARRY
He doesn't have perfect vision, it's actually somewhat blurry.

LUCY
Oh no, poor Pompom, he must bump into things.

HARRY
No, don't worry. Hedgehogs mainly use their sense of smell to find their way.

LUCY
What? How is that possible?

EDMOND

LUCY
The 'Lucy' has a very pleasant smell... unlike the 'Edmond' who smells like moldy boogers.

And there are other animals that use their hearing to find their way. For example, rodents not only have incredible hearing, they also have a great sense of smell and of touch.

LUCY
Okay, fine, but during the day, I'm sure they can just as easily see, smell and touch. Why would they do that at night?

HARRY
To avoid crossing paths... with the terrifying twinkle-toe LUCY-raptor who only hunts by day!

LUCY
Ah yes, I really do love frog hunting.

EDMOND
Really? I thought you were scared of them.

LUCY
Mmmm? Ah! huh_ No, it just startled me.

HARRY
Nocturnal animals just feel more comfortable at night. Everything is calmer, more serene. They're less likely to encounter a predator.

EDMOND
But you can also discover amazing things at night. Remember the time we went for a long walk?

LUCY
Oh yeah! We saw fireflies! That was really amazing!

HARRY
You see, you do like the shows nature has to offer, like the dance of the fireflies, or the singing of the frogs.

LUCY
Okay, you're right, their singing isn't that bad.

HARRY
You know the saying: when frogs sing at night, the next day will be sunny and bright!

EDMOND
