MICHAEL INTV Having a doorbell Camera will absolutely reduce crime in your little patch of the neighborhood. Some of the videos We’ve seen are hysterical. But it does reduce crime in your little patch of paradise. DR COOPER INTV When individuals have to act the spur of the moment, that's definitely the fight or flight. Sometimes in those situations, individuals panic and they freeze. But sometimes we get really lucky and people in those situations, they fight and they act. And sometimes when adrenaline starts to pump, they become stronger. They can move things and lift things just to save someone or help someone. That’s When we really see the best of human nature and community. DR PENN INTV What motivates a person to drive drunk? Judgment is Impaired when one drinks at the bar or some party. And then that Judgment is impaired and the decision of how to get home has to be made. If you make the wrong decision, you will drive while drunk. Make a plan before you start to drink. Because judgment is the first thing that is Impaired and then you can say to yourself, especially if you do this often, i can make it. It’s only a mile away. It's only a short distance. I've done it before. But we don’t know. The circumstances are different. It may be raining that day. That car’s coming to the intersection the same time as you are. All these factors make that no situation is exactly the same, which can make for a horrific accident to occur, in which life could be lost. DR PENN INTV The question becomes can i get around the situation that is surveilling me? Can i find a way for You not to see who i am? Cameras are to be that great deterrent, but some people will go ahead and move Forward with a crime, believing that a, you may see me, but i have some sort of disguise on. Or b, i am so Inspired to commit this crime, i don’t care if you see me. That person may not be deterred by even a weapon that you have. That person is Motivated to commit this criminal act, whether it be because of the emotion that they have or the opportunity that they have to bring forth revenge or some sort of pain circumstance to you. You put that together with a person charged up And ready to go commit a crime, that can make it that that camera has little to no effect. VO The tumbling twosome were never found. But not all gas capers are successful. MICHAEL INTV There are a couple different types of crimes out there. There’s a planned crime and there's a crime of opportunity. Somebody who was planning a crime is going to go into a place and see if there’s a surveillance system. Then there’s the crime of opportunity, where they didn't uh necessarily case the place or see if there was a security system there. But they get to the doorstep And they see the doorbell camera. More than likely, they are not going to commit the crime. Are there those that do? Absolutely. But they were going to commit the crime anyway. VO Apparently, there’s a secret epidemic of flatulence in this country. DR COOPER INTV When individuals know they’re being watched by surveillance, it's going to make them put their best foot forward. They're going to be hyper aware of their own behavior and what their behavior looks like to other people. So they're not going to want to be seen in a negative light, because image, Reputation and and now of course we live in this age of phone cameras, Social media. So everything in that moment can then be seen everywhere. So people are hyper aware of how they’re seen and if that behavior is really according to norms in society. So they're going to act Better, if they know they're going to be watched or are being watched.
