ALLISON BRYCE CODY DAN DRIVER JOY LAURIE MILO NATHAN RUSTY SCOTT SIMONE STEVEN VANESSA ALLISON Beat that. CODY Prepare to be wowed. ALLISON Wow. CODY The wind must’a picked up. Let me try that again. ALLISON Hold on, what time is it? CODY Almost three. ALLISON I have to go. The last set of vans will be here any minute. CODY But we’re not done with the match. ALLISON Haven’t I embarrassed you enough for one summer? CODY I still maintain that you got lucky the last 37 times. CODY So, you’re all packed and ready to go? ALLISON Yeah. I’m going to miss this place. CODY This is nothing. Someday I’m going to buy this camp, I’m going to redo the cabins, update the mess hall, put in new tetherball courts, basketball, arts and crafts... CODY And over there, with that perfect view, will be our cabin. ALLISON Our cabin? CODY Well, mine and my wife’s. CODY Have you thought any more about next summer? ALLISON Constantly, but I still haven’t made a decision. CODY Then here’s something to help. SIMONE I hope I’m not interrupting. CODY Not yet, Simone. Your timing is impeccable. SIMONE We’ve got a situation down at the equipment shed and I could use a big, strong man. ALLISON Sorry, the only one here is Cody. CODY You’re going to pay for that, Allie. SIMONE He’ll just be a minute. ALLISON Okay, but hurry. The van is leaving soon. CODY Don’t worry, you’re not getting away from me that easily. ALLISON Bye, guys. Have a great school year. Remember, Ron, Loudest Burp is only a valid title at summer camp. DAN So this is it. Off to the hallowed halls of higher education to study... what is your major again? ALLISON Marketing. DAN That’s right. How do you like it? ALLISON I love it. In fact, one of my professors said he could get me an internship with a firm next summer. DAN So you’re not coming back? ALLISON I haven’t decided yet. I wish I could do both. DAN I can guess what Cody wants you to do. ALLISON You know Cody. He doesn’t want to have anything to do with that whole rat race and doesn’t understand why I would. DAN Selfishly, I hope you’ll come back. Things are more interesting with you around. ALLISON I’m going to miss you, Dan. DRIVER If you’re coming with me, we’ve got to get a move on. ALLISON Can you give me five more minutes? I need to say goodbye to somebody. DRIVER Okay, five minutes. But then I have to leave with or without you. CODY Allison! CODY Allison, wait! ALLISON Wait! CODY Allison! ALLISON Let’s go. ALLISON ...which would increase your presence and fill a hole in the market. ALLISON Following this-- VANESSA Following this three-pronged strategy, I believe we can make Rusty’s Round-Up the number one family steakhouse by year end. VANESSA Rusty’s Round-Up. Meet. Greet. Eat. RUSTY Young lady, I know a cow pie when I hear it... but this makes a lot of sense. I’m sold. Let’s do it. NATHAN Excellent. We’ll have Business Affairs draw up the contract. Let me walk you out. NATHAN “Meet. Greet. Eat.” I love it. Excellent work, Vanessa. VANESSA Thank you. NATHAN You too, Allison. ALLISON That line was my idea. VANESSA It was a team effort and you’re part of my team. ALLISON I can’t believe she took credit. She knows that slogan was mine. LAURIE Of course she did, Vanessa’s a shark. She’ll take your ideas, your credit, and if you don’t watch out, your boyfriend. I’ve seen how she looks at him. ALLISON I’m not worried about that. LAURIE Why don’t you just tell Nathan it was your idea? ALLISON I can’t say anything, it’ll look like I’m whining. LAURIE You got the account. That’s the important part. ALLISON I know, but I need to find a way to prove myself to Nathan or I’m going to be a Junior Executive under Vanessa forever. And it’s not just about getting a promotion, It’s about creating something on my own. You know, something I believe in and can get behind. LAURIE I’m sure you’ll figure it out. LAURIE I can’t believe I ate that whole thing. Even worse, for dessert I want ribs. ALLISON You’re allowed, you’re pregnant. How are you feeling? LAURIE Like I’m about to pop. It was nice of Nathan to let me start working from home, most corporate lawyers don’t get that perk, but I’m sad I’m going to miss out on the offsite next week. ALLISON What’s to miss? A few meetings and rah-rah sessions at the beach, followed by Nathan’s painful karaoke in the Sunset Lounge. LAURIE I don’t like being out of the loop. ALLISON Well, you’re going to be out of it while you’re on maternity leave. How’s Scott handling everything? LAURIE He’s been great. Calm, steady, supportive. I could just kill him. ALLISON What? LAURIE We’re about to be responsible for another human being. It would be nice if he was at least a quarter as nervous as I am. ALLISON I’m sure you’ll figure that out. MILO Seriously, you gotta watch it. It’s the best sci-fi on Tv. JOY Sorry. MILO Don’t apologize to me, I bumped into you. JOY Sorry. I mean... Sorry. MILO What are these? JOY Just some ideas I had. For our accounts. MILO They’re good. Have you shown them to anyone? JOY No, they’re just ideas. Besides Vanessa is not really ... MILO I know, but I bet Allison would listen. JOY I’m not ready for that. BRYCE Excuse me, the delivery guy said these were for the most beautiful woman in the building. ALLISON Did he now? BRYCE But I told him to correct his order. These are for the most beautiful woman in the city. ALLISON Such a smooth talker. No wonder you’re in charge of bringing in new clients. ALLISON “Congratulations on the new account.” BRYCE That’s your second one this month. You’re on your way. ALLISON I’d hardly call Rusty’s Round-Up and U-Balloons “on my way.” BRYCE Those are big accounts. ALLISON I know, but wouldn’t it be nice to work on something meaningful for a change? BRYCE What would be nice is if Nathan made you the lead on one of them like he should have done a long time ago. Imagine, you and me, side-by-side. I bring in the clients and you knock ‘em out. But for now, I’m just imagining us at the company retreat next week. ALLISON It’s just a business trip. BRYCE The days are work, but we will still have some time for us. BRYCE Romantic dinners, sunset walks on the beach... ALLISON Sounds nice. MILO Okay, break it up, whatever this is. Nathan wants everyone in the conference room. NATHAN Hi, thank you for coming. As you know, next week is the annual off-site retreat. NATHAN Yes, I know, a week of fun in the sun, spa sessions and gourmet food all on the company’s dime. Except... not this time. NATHAN The point of the retreat is to promote teamwork and boost office camaraderie, but how can you do that when everyone is off on their own activities? So, this year I decided to explore some other options. Instead of going to the Vanderfield Resort, we’re all heading to an adventure camp in the great outdoors. BRYCE What? NATHAN I know I’m not giving you much notice, but I like to keep everyone on their toes. So, have a great weekend, get lots of rest, and pack for fun. Thank you. VANESSA I can’t believe this, what am I going to do with all those sundresses? BRYCE So much for sunset walks on the beach. LAURIE The off-site? ALLISON Yes. That’s how I can impress Nathan. LAURIE How, exactly, are you going to do that? ALLISON You know how seriously he takes these things. And I have an advantage because we used to do team building when I was a camp counselor. Laurie takes off her glasses and sits up straight. LAURIE You used to be a camp counselor? Allison carries some clothes from her dresser and packs them into the suitcase. ALLISON It was a long time ago, I was in college. LAURIE I can’t even picture that. You have a phone app that tells you what kind of makeup to wear based on the weather. ALLISON I was a different person then. LAURIE Well, great. It sounds like a plan. ALLISON What was that? LAURIE I don’t know. I’d better go check on Scott. ALLISON All right, have a good night. LAURIE You, too. Let me know how it goes. LAURIE What is all this? SCOTT The works. Furniture, toys, decorations, about two thousand diapers... LAURIE All this for an infant? He has more stuff than we do. SCOTT He’s going to be here before we know it. I cleared out all my sports memorabilia, so we’re good to go. LAURIE Sorry you’re losing your man-cave. SCOTT That’s okay, you’ve been doing the heavy lifting for the past eight months. LAURIE Okay, have fun. I’m going to try to get a little more work done. SCOTT Two weeks. It’s really starting to feel real, isn’t it? LAURIE It sure is. ALLISON Outdoorsy, outdoorsy... ALLISON Yes. ALLISON Perfect. NATHAN ...and the jacket was in my car the whole time. VANESSA Nathan, that is the funniest story. You are hysterical! BRYCE You’re breaking up. Do we have a deal? Artie? Artie? BRYCE I lost him. How am I supposed to get any work done with all these trees? BRYCE What’s that? ALLISON Just some ideas I was hoping to talk to Nathan about. BRYCE I thought you were going to sit next to him on the ride up. ALLISON I was, but Vanessa beat me to it. BRYCE That’s okay, you’ll have plenty of time to schmooze. ALLISON I hope so. BRYCE You okay? ALLISON Yeah, it just looks familiar. BRYCE It looks like woods. ALLISON Where are we going, anyway? BRYCE Hang on, I have a brochure. BRYCE Camp Viewpoint. ALLISON You gotta be kidding. BRYCE It’s certainly more rustic than the Vanderfield Resort. ALLISON Give it a chance. BRYCE Well, I guess the forest is kind of romantic. And we can trade the sunset walks on the beach for moonlight hikes. BRYCE As long as we’re together, we’ll make our own magic. BRYCE I’ll get the bug spray. MILO Need a hand. JOY That’s okay, I can get it. MILO Are you sure? Looks like yours are full and I have a free one. JOY Uh, okay. MILO Right this way, miss. JOY Thank you. ALLISON Excuse me, Dan? DAN Allison? DAN I can’t believe it’s you. You look so... professional. ALLISON Well, it’s been a while. I work in marketing now. DAN I always knew you were headed for big things. ALLISON It’s so strange to be back. This place seems to have gone through some changes. DAN We started taking on corporate clients a couple years ago during the off-season. ALLISON But isn’t this peak summer camp season? DAN Well, as word got out, we started getting more and more clients and eventually we just switched over entirely. We made a lot of upgrades to cater to the new clientele. ALLISON It looks great, but it’s a shame kids don’t come here anymore. I guess everything changes. DAN Well, not everything. In fact, here’s a face you might recognize. ALLISON Cody! CODY Allison. Hi. CODY This is a surprise. I didn’t expect to see you around here again. ALLISON And I didn’t expect to see you still around here. CODY Well, things are a little different now. I own the camp. ALLISON Congratulations. It looks really nice. CODY Thank you. This is what I always talked about. It’s everything I wanted to do. ALLISON Well, I should get to my cabin. CODY See you around. VANESSA I can’t believe we have to share cabins. If we were at the Vanderfield Resort, I’d be ordering a drink and scheduling a deep tissue massage with Gustav right now. JOY I think it’s nice. It’s so woodsy and natural. Plus, it’ll give us a chance to really get to know each other. VANESSA Does anybody want to switch beds with me? LAURIE Hey, there. How’s the off-site going? ALLISON Not well. LAURIE What do you mean? Didn’t you just get there? ALLISON It turns out Camp Viewpoint is my old camp. LAURIE You’re kidding. ALLISON Even worse, my ex owns the camp. LAURIE That’s hysterical. ALLISON No, it’s terrible. Things didn’t end well between us. I’m trying to impress Nathan, I don’t need this. LAURIE C’mon, Allison, it’s been years. Don’t you think he’s over it by now? Honestly, it’s kind of nice. Reunited with your ex at your old summer camp? It’s like a romance novel or a Tv movie. ALLISON More like a horror movie. He’s the reason I never came back. LAURIE How did you wind up working there, anyway? You grew up in the city. ALLISON I needed a summer job and they were hiring. But I liked it so much, I came back the next two years. This was a very special place to me. And Cody... Well, he was my first love. It’s just so awkward. LAURIE Look, Allison, you’re both grown up, you’re professionals... Just talk to him. You’ll probably have a good laugh about it and everything will be fine. ALLISON Maybe you’re right. LAURIE Of course I am. ALLISON I should take care of it soon. I don’t want people finding out and gossiping. You know how Bryce can be the jealous type. Thanks for letting me talk it out. LAURIE Any time. I can’t believe it, the most interesting off-site we’ve had and I’m missing it. ALLISON Trust me, you’re not missing anything. I’ll talk to you later. LAURIE Wait, Allison... ALLISON Yeah? LAURIE How does he look? ALLISON Not bad. LAURIE Good luck. VANESSA Hi, Bryce. BRYCE Vanessa. VANESSA Nice to see someone else dressed for dinner. But then, you always look nice. MILO Is this seat taken? JOY No. MILO This place is bringing me back. It’s just like summer camp. JOY I never went. MILO Really? JOY We used to go to my grandparents’ farm for the summer. That was kind of like camp. MILO What did you do? JOY Milked the cows, fed the chickens, harvested the crops, cleaned the barn. MILO That’s not kind of like summer camp, that’s kind of like a full * time job. * JOY I liked it. It was a chance to get away and be somebody else for a while. MILO So, what do you want to at the company? Or was office assistant always the goal? JOY Well, eventually, I’d like to be an account executive. MILO Eventually? JOY NATHAN Who are they with? BRYCE They’re with Duncroft Marketing, but I think we can get them. They want to become a household name by the end of the year. NATHAN Work your magic and see what you can do. BRYCE Already on it. BRYCE There you are. I was wondering when you were going to make it down. ALLISON I just wanted to freshen up a bit. ALLISON This is really nice. They did a great job. BRYCE You should try the food. I was expecting something between chipped beef on toast and franks and beans. BRYCE Are you okay? ALLISON Yeah. BRYCE You seem a little distracted. ALLISON No, I’m fine. Great. CODY Good evening and welcome to the fifth annual Hillridge Marketing off-site retreat! CODY My name is Cody Randall, I’m the owner and operator of Camp Viewpoint. I hope you’re all enjoying yourselves. And how about the food? CODY Over the next five days, you’ll be participating in a series of programs, seminars and outdoor activities designed to foster creative thinking and team building. It’s going to be revealing, it’s going to be challenging, and, most of all, it’s going to be fun. And here to tell you more about the week is our Activities Director, Dan. ALLISON Will you excuse me for a minute? BRYCE Sure. ALLISON Cody. CODY Allison. Hi. ALLISON Kind of funny, running into each other. CODY Yeah, I never thought you and I would be in the same room again. ALLISON I thought we should talk, in light of our history. CODY Sure. ALLISON I know things didn’t end well the last time, but I was hoping we could keep the past between us. It’s really nobody’s business and I’d rather just let bygones be bygones. CODY Absolutely. This week is all about your company and the employees. I’m here to facilitate that, so the last thing I want is to become a distraction. ALLISON Thank you, that’s a relief. CODY So, what do you think? About the camp? ALLISON It’s very nice. It looks like you’re doing well. CODY We’re doing alright. ALLISON I’m impressed. You’re the last person I expected to turn into a businessman. CODY Oh, yeah, dealing with vendors, suppliers, late nights returning phone calls... Of course, you wouldn’t know much about returning calls. ALLISON Well, sometimes you don’t need to return calls when actions speak for themselves. CODY Then again, actions can be misinterpreted and it’s always a good idea to give people a chance to explain. ALLISON Or people could explain at the time. CODY Maybe they just got tongue-tied. ALLISON Well, wouldn’t you know! CODY And here we go! ALLISON I’m sorry I wanted that internship. I liked being a camp counselor, but I wanted a career. That didn’t give you permission to make out with Simone. CODY You still think that’s what happened. I called you a hundred times. You never let me explain. ALLISON Okay, you wanted to explain... explain. CODY What difference does it make? CODY Welcome to Camp Viewpoint. I hope you enjoy your stay. BRYCE Is everything okay? ALLISON Fine. BRYCE All right... DAN ...so get ready to learn a lot about your coworkers and a lot about yourselves. We’re going to start bright and early tomorrow morning, so it’s time to head back to your cabins, turn in and get ready for the best night’s sleep of your lives. JOY Can’t sleep, either? ALLISON No. JOY I guess I’m kind of anxious about tomorrow. What about you? ALLISON It’s... the noise. JOY Oh. I really admire you. You have such good ideas and you’re so confident. I wish I could be like that. ALLISON You’re going to do fine tomorrow. JOY Thanks. Good luck with the noise. ALLISON Right... The noise. MILO Good morning, sunshine. BRYCE Are you okay? ALLISON I’m having a little trouble adjusting to the elements. BRYCE Good, I was afraid you were coming down with something. CODY Okay, can I have everybody gather ‘round? CODY Good morning and welcome to the first day off the retreat. JOY Woo! CODY We’re going to start off the week with some outdoor events and teambuilding activities designed to facilitate communication and foster cooperation. As we go on, we’ll integrate these lessons into real business scenarios designed specifically for you. A chain is only as strong as its weakest link, so you’ll have to work together as a single unit to accomplish your goal. I’ll be around to guide you and fill in when necessary. CODY Remember, it’s not a competition and it’s not a race, so just go out there and have fun. Does anyone have any questions? BRYCE Yeah. If it’s not a competition, how is it supposed to be fun? CODY Let’s get started. CODY Good morning. ALLISON Look, I think we got off on the wrong foot last night. Obviously we both have some lingering issues, but what’s done is done. We’ve both moved on. I’m doing well, you’ve got the camp. Let’s just forget about what happened in the past and carry on like professionals. CODY Sure. ALLISON Good. CODY Apology accepted. VANESSA Okay, I’m going to duck under. Bryce? MILO I am lifting my left hand. VANESSA Then whose hand am I holding? JOY Mine. VANESSA I’m going to give you the name of my manicurist. Ask for the Coal Miner Special. MILO They feel nice to me. Maybe I should start holding hands with more coal miners. ALLISON Ben, step through. No, that made it worse. Jill, raise your hand. ALLISON Maybe we should start over. ALLISON Look out, coming behind you. CODY All right, good hustle. CODY Let me give you a hand. ALLISON I can do it. ALLISON Told you. CODY I was just going to tell you that there are little steps that everyone’s been using to get up. CODY But good hustle. BRYCE What are you doing? ALLISON What do you mean? BRYCE You’re like a crazy person out there. Allison draws another cup and gulps it down. ALLISON I’m just trying to show my enthusiasm. BRYCE To who? ALLISON Nathan. That’s the whole point. BRYCE Okay, just take it down a notch before you kill someone. VANESSA Good energy out there. ALLISON Thank you. VANESSA I didn’t realize you were so strong. I hope I can keep up. DAN Everybody ready? DAN And... go! BRYCE Joy, turn to the left. CODY It’s not about strength, it’s about teamwork. CODY Whoa! VANESSA Nathan! Are you okay? NATHAN Yeah, yeah. CODY Allison? ALLISON I’m fine. ALLISON I can’t believe Cody did that. He totally set me up. LAURIE Are you sure? It may have just been an accident. ALLISON That was no accident. He’s trying to make me look like a fool in front of Nathan. LAURIE Why would he do that? You haven’t been together for ten years and he’s the one who cheated on you. ALLISON Exactly! I should be making a fool of him. LAURIE That’s not what I meant. ALLISON I thought we could act like adults, but apparently it’s too late for that. LAURIE I really don’t think it’s too late for that. ALLISON What am I supposed to do? He obviously still has unresolved issues with me. LAURIE Is it possible that you have a few unresolved issues with him, too? ALLISON Cody? Are you kidding? LAURIE I don’t know, I’ve known you a long time. I’ve never heard you unhinged like this. ALLISON The only reason I’m unhinged is because I just flattened our boss. I assure you, I’m very happy with Cody. LAURIE Bryce. ALLISON What did I say? LAURIE I have to go. Scott and I are going to the movies and then to dinner. We’re trying to take as much advantage as possible, since I don’t know when we’re going to be able to do this again. ALLISON Don’t be afraid of what you’re giving up, think of everything you’re getting in return. LAURIE Like stretch marks. ALLISON Have fun tonight. LAURIE You, too. Try not to hurt anybody else. ALLISON “I’m very happy with Bryce.” What’s the problem? “I’m very happy with Cody.” Bryce! I’m very happy with Bryce. This is all his fault. LAURIE Scott? SCOTT You rang? LAURIE Do you know why I suddenly can’t open the cabinets? SCOTT I baby proofed them. LAURIE Baby proofed? SCOTT It’s magnetic. I did the kitchen, too. What do you think? LAURIE I think it’s about a year too early. SCOTT I know, but I saw them at the store the other day and thought they looked cool. Here, try it. LAURIE Are you sure it’s not parentproofed? SCOTT You have to hold it just right. Move it to the left. LAURIE What’s the trick? SCOTT There’s no trick, just a magnet. SCOTT See? SCOTT I’ll lock it in the open position. Don’t worry, you’ve got plenty of time to figure it out. SCOTT We gotta get going. I don’t want to miss the trailers. LAURIE Forgot what I need in there, anyway. NATHAN Allison. How are you doing? ALLISON Fine. Sorry about the tug-o-war. NATHAN It’s okay. I wouldn’t have lasted this long in this business if I couldn’t survive a little dirt in my hair. Or egg on my face. ALLISON I feel like I’ve been wearing it ever since we got here. NATHAN You know, you can stop trying so hard. ALLISON What? NATHAN I know how people are on these things. Everyone’s trying to impress the boss. As if winning Capture the Flag will somehow get them a promotion. ALLISON I just wanted to make a good impression. NATHAN Allison, I know you do good work. You’re smart, you work hard, but marketing is a funny business. Companies spend huge amounts of money coming up with big campaigns, running data analysis, focus group testing... but the ultimate goal is very small: to make a connection. An emotional bond between product and consumer. And that takes something very personal. It takes heart. If you want to impress me, show me what’s in your heart. NATHAN I have a few calls to make. I’ll see at dinner. ALLISON Hi, honey. BRYCE How are you doing? That was quite a scene at the tug-o-war. ALLISON I guess I got a little too into it. I hope everyone doesn’t think I’m a nut case. BRYCE No, but I’m starting to get a little worried. What’s going on? You’ve been acting strangely ever since we got here. ALLISON I’m sorry, I haven’t really been myself lately. I guess it’s stress. BRYCE Off-sites are like that. Everyone gets a little crazy. NATHAN ALLISON The woods are beautiful, aren’t they? BRYCE Reminds me of when I was growing up. ALLISON What do you mean? BRYCE Twice a year, my parents would pack us in the car, drive up to some remote spot in the mountains, pitch tents, and spend the week fishing, hiking, cooking over an open fire... ALLISON You never told me that. BRYCE That’s because I hated it. Middle of nowhere, nothing to do. ALLISON You didn’t like getting rid of distractions, getting back to the elements? BRYCE The reason people stopped living in tents is because we found a better way. This is just moving backward. DAN You missed dinner, so I brought you a plate. CODY Thanks. I thought it would be better if I didn’t go down there. DAN It seems like Allison has got you riled up. CODY Yeah. Clearly seeing her again brought up some old feelings. I guess I let it get out of control. DAN Well, you’ve been under a lot of stress with that developer and everything. CODY I never thought I’d sell the camp, but here we are. DAN Well, he showed up with an attractive offer. It would be tough for anyone to refuse. CODY It’s not the money, it’s just not the same anymore. I’ve never imagined doing anything else, but maybe it’s time to try something new. DAN You do what you think is best. CODY You know whatever happens, I’ll make sure you’re taken care of. DAN I’m not worried about that. I’m going to turn in. Have a good night. CODY Dan, do you think I’m making the right decision? DAN Cody, I’ve known you for a long time and the one thing I’ve never wondered is whether you would make the right decision. DAN I’ll see you in the morning. SCOTT Are you still working? I thought the whole point of working from home was that you were supposed to be taking it easy. LAURIE I am taking it easy. See? I’m in my pajamas. SCOTT Turn off the computer. Come to bed. LAURIE I’ll be there in a minute. SCOTT That’s what you said thirty minutes ago. LAURIE I know, I’m just trying to finish some things up before the baby comes. SCOTT Okay, but don’t stay up too late. You’re sleeping for two now. VANESSA Tough break today. I hope Nathan wasn’t too upset. ALLISON No. Not at all, actually. VANESSA He wasn’t? ALLISON In fact, we had a good talk afterward. VANESSA Really. NATHAN The next partners are Jackie and... Phil. NATHAN Vanessa and... Milo. MILO Howdy, Pardner. VANESSA This is going to be fun. NATHAN Next we have Bryce and... Allison. BRYCE I finally get to spend some time with you. NATHAN Which leaves... Joy. CODY We knew it was going to be an odd number. Do you mind if I fill in? JOY Sure. Nathan looks over at Allison and Bryce. NATHAN Hold on. Allison, Bryce... you know each other well enough. How about Bryce, you work with Joy and CODY Keep walking straight ahead. You’ve got a root right in front of you, so careful you don’t trip on it. CODY All right, straight ahead. CODY So what’s the deal with you and Slicky McHandsome? ALLISON His name is Bryce and it’s really none of your business. CODY Not trying to make it my business, just trying to make conversation. ALLISON I’d rather not talk about it if you don’t mind. In fact, I’d rather just focus on the trust walk. CODY Fine by me. ALLISON Is there a bathroom around here? CODY Behind every tree. ALLISON That’s okay, I can wait. ALLISON Something funny? CODY I don’t remember you being so... delicate. ALLISON And what are you, rugged? Just because you wear flannel doesn’t make you a lumberjack. CODY I take it back. You are definitely not delicate. ALLISON You know, on second thought, I don’t need your help with this. I can get there just fine on my own. ALLISON Whoa! CODY Allison! CODY Allison! Are you okay? ALLISON I’m fine. ALLISON Ow! CODY Sit still. Let me check for breaks. ALLISON That’s not necessary. CODY Yes, it is. We’re liable. CODY Does this hurt? ALLISON No. CODY This? ALLISON No. VANESSA Keep walking. Walking... MILO Ouch. VANESSA We’re here. DAN Who’s ready for some climbing? VANESSA This just keeps getting better. BRYCE Excuse me, have you seen Allison? DAN No, I haven’t. I guess they’re running late. CODY Some week, huh? ALLISON You can say that again. I guess I’m not the same camper I used to be. CODY For the record, she kissed me. ALLISON You don’t owe me an explanation. CODY Yes, I do. And you owe me the opportunity to give it to you. ALLISON Fine. CODY Simone always had a thing for me. I should have known she’d try something. I helped her collect the equipment and the next thing I knew, she had me pinned against the shed. I was trying to push her off when you found us. ALLISON She had you pinned? Were your arms broken? CODY I was surprised. I was confused. Confused by her, confused about us. It was one kiss and I didn’t even kiss her back. ALLISON So, you two never had a thing? CODY She wasn’t my type. ALLISON I guess it’s nice to know the truth. CODY Even if it did take a while. ALLISON I think, deep down, I couldn’t believe you’d really do that. The internship was a great opportunity, though. And it made it easier to get over us. CODY Whatever happened, everything worked out in the end. BRYCE Allison? ALLISON Bryce! BRYCE What are you doing down there? ALLISON I fell. Cody was just helping me up. CODY Well, it doesn’t look like anything is broken. ALLISON What are you doing here? BRYCE You didn’t make it back, so I came to find you. CODY I should be heading up there. Allison, do you need a hand up the hill? BRYCE I can take it from here. CODY Okay, see you back there. Watch your step, Allie. BRYCE “Allie?” ALLISON We knew each other a long time ago. I used to be a counselor here. BRYCE You never told me that. ALLISON I didn’t think it was important. BRYCE Well, c’mon, we’re all back there. MILO It’s amazing! Open your eyes. JOY That’s okay. MILO C’mon, open them up or you’re going to miss everything. JOY Wow. MILO Woo! I’m king of the mountain! DAN All right, Your Majesty, time to give someone else a turn. DAN There you are. I was wondering when you were going to make it. CODY Allison and I had a little talk. DAN It’s about time. ALLISON Oh, no. I was really hoping we wouldn’t get to this. BRYCE What’s the matter? You’re not afraid of heights, are you? ALLISON No, just falling. BRYCE Don’t worry, it’s perfectly safe. ALLISON I think I’ll just watch from down here. BRYCE I thought you wanted to impress Nathan. ALLISON I do. CODY You don’t have to prove anything. I’m sure everyone here knows how strong you are. If you want to stay down here, that’s perfectly fine, but if you want to try the wall, I’ll go up with you. ALLISON Okay. ALLISON What happens if I slip? CODY Dan will lock the rope and you’ll come to a complete stop. ALLISON What if I get stuck half-way? CODY I’ll be there. CODY Just grab hold of something and climb up. ALLISON I’m having second thoughts. CODY You’ll be fine. Just keep your eye on the wall. CODY Nice job. You’re getting the hang of it. ALLISON Whoa! ALLISON Help! CODY Don’t worry, Dan’s got you. If you want to stop, just let go and he’ll lower you down. If you want to keep going, just follow my voice. CODY There you go. You’ve got it. CODY Just a little more. Keep coming. ALLISON I made it! CODY You sure did. Wanna see something? ALLISON Okay. CODY Lock your rope and turn around. ALLISON Wow. I’d forgotten how beautiful it is. CODY I hadn’t. NATHAN Okay, let’s try this again. One, two, three. DAN One and a half seconds. MILO There’s no way we can get to ten. ALLISON No, I used to do these activities when I was at camp. It’s not impossible, we just have to work as a team. NATHAN I think we all get the point. Let’s move on to something new. ALLISON Wait, Milo and Joy, stand on opposite sides. ALLISON Now, hold each others’ hands, step on and lean back. ALLISON Now, Nathan, stand across from me. DAN Ten seconds. You got it. CODY Nice job, everybody. ALLISON We reach out to smaller businesses who need our help. Recycling centers, pet adoption, community medical offices. Let’s get behind the businesses that get behind our community. VANESSA Are you kidding? Companies like that can’t afford us. We’ll be skimming for guppies while our competition goes after the big fish. MILO Say it. ALLISON Joy, is there something you want to say? JOY I was thinking that while we might not get paid as well for businesses like that, the good publicity will bring in the big clients. ALLISON Exactly. It’s marketing for our own marketing firm. Good thinking, Joy. BRYCE Hey there, beautiful. ALLISON Oh, hi, Bryce. ALLISON Sorry about that, I got a little overzealous during kickball. BRYCE We’ve hardly gotten to spend any alone time up here. I was thinking we could go on that romantic nature walk we were talking about the other day. ALLISON Now? I’m on my way to the Office Supply Relay. BRYCE So? Blow it off. ALLISON I can’t, I’m a team captain. ALLISON Come on, you’re going to get left behind. BRYCE No kidding. ALLISON Customer service is how we’ll define ourselves. We might be smaller, but we’ll be better. We need to treat every client like they’re our only client. NATHAN I don’t know what’s in the water up here, but it’s having a good effect on you. MILO I’m serious, you should talk to Allison about getting more involved with the accounts. I know she’s just a Junior Executive, but she’ll help out however she can. MILO Whoa! Fire alert. JOY Now what? MILO Watch and learn. MILO Here you go. Your first, very welldone, s’more. JOY I’ve been missing this all these years? MILO Welcome to summer camp. BRYCE We’ve got a conference call scheduled with the Epicurean Fresh people for tomorrow morning. I think they’re ready to move. NATHAN You worked that deal from up here? BRYCE You know me, I’m always on. ALLISON Whoa. Excuse me. CODY Careful you don’t spill your cocoa. ALLISON Careful you don’t run into any hot beverages. VANESSA What’s next, we hold hands and sing campfire songs? DAN Cody, I have some purchase orders I need you to sign. CODY Thanks. Cody bends over and flips through the papers on the beverage table. He glances over and watches Allison, happily mingling with Milo and Joy. DAN It’s sure been nice having Allison back. CODY Yeah. DAN You’ve been spending a lot of time together. It feels like old times. CODY Not quite like old times, we’re just friends. DAN I’ve known you both a long time and you were never just friends. CODY Well, she’s got a boyfriend and I’ve got a business, so that’s all we are now. JOY Are you okay? ALLISON Yeah, I was just looking at my old bunk. JOY What? ALLISON I used to be a counselor here. JOY Really? ALLISON Well, back when it was a kids’ camp. I used to lie awake at night, making plans for the future, wondering how it would all turn out. JOY Now you know. ALLISON By the way, that was good work during the discussion groups. JOY Thank you. You know, if you ever need any help with the accounts, I’d love to get involved. ALLISON That’d be great. ALLISON Good night, Joy. JOY The noise isn’t keeping you awake anymore? ALLISON Nope, I must be getting used to it up here. CODY Well, hello. What are you doing up and about at this hour? ALLISON I got up early to watch the sun rise. I don’t know the last time I saw one. Where are you headed? CODY Just a little project I’m working on. Wanna help? ALLISON Sure. CODY There it is. Nestled in the crook of a branch is a small bird’s nest. CODY I noticed the eggs a few weeks back and I’ve been keeping an eye on it ever since. They hatched two days ago. ALLISON Aww. CODY The predators are pretty active around here, so I’m putting up a barrier to keep them out. ALLISON You always did have a soft spot for the young and vulnerable. ALLISON So, why did you change this from a kid’s camp? CODY I had no choice. We were losing money. ALLISON But the kids were your favorite part. Building up their confidence, pushing them to try new things. CODY Well, I didn’t exactly plan it this way. Can you hold this? CODY You start off making little changes here and there, and eventually the changes take over. One day, I looked around and realized I’d sold out without even knowing it. ALLISON Then why don’t you change it back? CODY Because I don’t know how to make it work as a kid’s camp. The funny thing is, I bought this camp because I didn’t want to get consumed by the business world, but instead, I just brought it up here. ALLISON Don’t give up hope. I have a lot of happy memories of this camp. And a lot of faith in the people that run it. NATHAN Great job in there. You were on fire. BRYCE You know what they say, don’t sell the steak, sell the sizzle. NATHAN If we land the Epicurean Fresh account, it will be a huge addition to our portfolio. Knock off for a while and we’ll talk later. BRYCE Vanessa, have you seen Allison? We were supposed to meet for breakfast this morning and she never showed up. VANESSA Allison? The last time I saw her, she was going somewhere with that Cody guy. BRYCE Cody? VANESSA You know, the one who runs the camp. Good looking, muscular... BRYCE I know who he is. VANESSA If I see her, do you want me to tell her you’re looking for her? BRYCE No. SCOTT Let me help you with that. LAURIE Thanks. Scott jiggles the box. SCOTT What’s in here? LAURIE Just some contracts. I went down to the office and picked up some more work. SCOTT More? LAURIE Well, I’m caught up, so I figured while I have the time... SCOTT I thought the point was to clear your plate. LAURIE I’m just sitting around, so I may as well do something. SCOTT Did Nathan ask you to do this? LAURIE No, I just want to be useful. SCOTT Your job right now is to rest up and stay strong. And if you’re bored, why don’t you work on the nursery? LAURIE I’ll get to it. I’m just getting to this first. SCOTT Relax a little. This is your chance to take it easy. Work will carry on without you. LAURIE That’s what I’m afraid of. NATHAN Our final project is one you should all be familiar with - a marketing campaign. VANESSA Who’s the client? NATHAN We’re standing in it. Five teams are going to come up with campaigns for Camp Viewpoint. You’ll present them and I’ll pick the best one. VANESSA How are we supposed to do that? All of our materials are back at the office. NATHAN I’m not looking for a slick campaign, this is about ideas. All of the lessons from the previous activities, teamwork, problem solving and out of the box thinking, have been leading up to this. Now is your chance to implement them. BRYCE Who are the captains? NATHAN Our Senior Account Executives, Vanessa, Rick, Lisa and Ben will be team captains. MILO What about the fifth? NATHAN The fifth will be Allison. ALLISON Excuse me? NATHAN You’ve really impressed me these past few days. Now let’s see what you can do. Allison, since this is your first time as lead, you get first pick of your team. ALLISON Well, I’m going to need a great copywriter, so... Milo. MILO Go team Allison. ALLISON And for our last teammate... Joy. Joy looks up, shocked. JOY Me? ALLISON Unless you don’t want to. JOY No, it’s... Thank you. NATHAN All right, go to it. ALLISON We need to come up with an angle. What are we really selling here? JOY Team-building, cooperation... MILO Time off from work. ALLISON Funny, but not helping. VANESSA I want a cost analysis, return on investment report, and look at other programs in the area and find holes. MILO Everybody’s ahead of us. ALLISON Nathan said Marketing is about creating the emotional bond between product and consumer. What is that bond? JOY You used to be a counselor here. Why did you keep coming back? ALLISON It’s not the same. Things were different then. ALLISON But maybe that’s what we need. Come with me. DAN The developer sent over the final contract. CODY Wow, it came together quicker than I expected. DAN A little too quickly? CODY I don’t know, what’s the point of holding on? DAN A lot of good memories. CODY That’s all they are now. DAN You didn’t give up before. You took a dying camp and turned it into a great business. CODY Sometimes you’ve got to know when to walk away. ALLISON I need to raid the archives. CODY What? ALLISON Pictures, letters, early days... That sort of thing. DAN We’ve got a bunch of that stuff in the shed behind Cabin Four. CODY I’ll take you over. ALLISON Are you doing some work on the camp? CODY What? ALLISON Vonner Land Developers. CODY Oh, that’s nothing. Come on, let’s go. CODY Remember this guy? ALLISON He was so homesick when he first got here. Two weeks later, we could barely get him on the van home. CODY I haven’t gone through this stuff in years. What are you looking for, anyway? ALLISON Ideas. ALLISON Who’s this attractive young couple? CODY Ugh. Did I really look like that? ALLISON I liked it. You were so different than the guys I knew in college. CODY So I was an act of rebellion? ALLISON Not rebellion, just eye-opening experience. ALLISON I really did miss not coming back here. CODY Well, if there’s one good thing about turning the camp into a corporate retreat, it’s that I got a friend back. ALLISON Here’s one of you, me and Dan. CODY We should take another one before you go. Hang them up in the office. Kids and adults, side-byside. ALLISON Excuse me. CODY Did I say something wrong? ALLISON No, you said something very right. ALLISON This section is fantastic. And I love that line you came up with at the end, Milo. MILO Thanks, but it was Joy’s idea. JOY It was a team effort. DAN Allison is really pouring her heart into this presentation. CODY I know, I can’t wait to see what she’s come up with. DAN So, what happens after tomorrow? CODY With what? DAN What do you think? With Allison? CODY She’ll get in a bus and go home. DAN That’s it? CODY What do you mean? DAN Are you going to sit there and tell me you have no feelings for her? CODY We’re in two different worlds, what am I supposed to do? DAN I’m not sure, but it took years for Allison to walk back into your life. And you’ve never struck me as the kind of man who would just let her walk out again. ALLISON Let’s practice it one more time. MILO We already did it four times. ALLISON Okay, okay... I just want everything to be perfect. Joy, do you have backups for all the materials? JOY Right here. ALLISON I think we’re ready. Just one last time. CODY Sorry, I don’t want to interrupt. MILO No, please do. CODY I thought you could use a break. MILO Yes, please get her to take a break. CODY Take a walk with me, clear your mind. ALLISON Well... CODY Trust me, I’m a licensed camp counselor. CODY I’m kidnapping Allison. You’re on your own. MILO We’ve got it covered. ALLISON We’ll practice again when I get back. ALLISON Whoa! ALLISON You were right, I needed to get away. CODY This way. ALLISON Where are we going? CODY Someplace where we can be alone. CODY This is it. ALLISON Maybe we should get back. CODY Ever since you arrived, there’s only been one thing on my mind. We started something a long time ago that we never got to finish. ALLISON Cody, I’m not sure... CODY No. If I don’t take the chance now, I may never have it again. ALLISON Archery? CODY One round, winner take all for the unquestioned, undefeated all-camp archery champion throughout this and all affiliated universes. No audience, no witnesses. Just two gladiators in the ultimate battle for supremacy. ALLISON This is so unfair. You get to practice year-round. I haven’t picked up a bow in forever. CODY Well, if you’d like to relinquish the title, I’ll gladly accept your forfeiture. ALLISON Not a chance, I was just giving you an opportunity to save face. ALLISON That was a practice round. CODY Fine. Do-over! CODY It’s no fun if you’re not going to try. ALLISON I am trying. You take a multi-year break and see how good you are. CODY Your stance is too tight. Bend your knees. CODY Lift your elbow. Keep it parallel with the ground. CODY Now, fix your eye on your target, slow your breath, and just... CODY ...let go. Zwing! Bullseye. ALLISON That was fun. ALLISON You were right, I needed that. CODY Whatever, unquestioned, undefeated all-camp archery champion throughout this and all affiliated universes. ALLISON I can’t believe the week’s almost over. CODY Time flies. ALLISON Well, I should brush up before the presentation. CODY Good luck. ALLISON Oh, hi. VANESSA Having fun? ALLISON What do you mean? VANESSA On the retreat. ALLISON It’s always nice to get out of the office. bunk. VANESSA I heard this place used to be a summer camp. I used to love camp. The friends, the activities... first love. ALLISON I wouldn’t know anything about that. VANESSA I’m going to go rehearse. I’ll see you at the presentation. LAURIE Insert wheel pin into axel. LAURIE Well, it took two hours, but not bad, if I say so, myself. LAURIE No... SCOTT What’s wrong? LAURIE I’m a terrible mother. SCOTT What? LAURIE Look at this, I can’t even put together a stroller. SCOTT Laurie, I told you I’d take care of that. LAURIE It’s not just the stroller. I’m a lawyer, I don’t know anything about being a mommy. SCOTT I don’t know anything about being a father, either. We’ll learn. LAURIE I’m like a moody, nauseous beach ball. When am I going to get my body back? SCOTT Eventually. Or never. It doesn’t matter, I didn’t marry you for your body. And, fortunately, not for your handiman stills, either. LAURIE You’re so calm and steady through this whole thing. I don’t get it, why aren’t you scared? SCOTT Laurie... I’m terrified. I wake up in a cold sweat. The other day, I dropped an egg and I nearly broke down, thinking, “What if that had been the baby.” I’m just trying to be strong for you. LAURIE I don’t want you to be strong for me, I want to know that you’re feeling the same things I am, that you’re thinking we’re never going to go out to dinner again or that we’re going to be terrible parents. SCOTT But that’s the thing, I think we’re going to be great parents. We love each other and we’re going to love this baby. And we’ll probably make a million mistakes a day, but we’ll figure it out. We’ve got books, we’ve got the internet, we’ve got people we can count on, but mostly, we’ve got each other. We’re in this together. And I’m much more careful with eggs these days. LAURIE You better be. VANESSA And in the weeks following, employers reported a ten percent increase in productivity and improved company morale. NATHAN Very nice. Allison, are you ready? ALLISON Yes. ALLISON Do you remember the first time you went to summer camp? ALLISON The wide open spaces; the fresh air; and trees so tall, you couldn’t see the top. Awed by the possibilities, open to new adventures. Where did that sense of wonder go? JOY Nowadays, we lock ourselves in offices. We work nights and weekends. So employee retreats, where we can get back in touch with that sense of wonder, seem like a great idea. MILO Companies pay huge amounts of money to bring their employees on these retreats to build camaraderie and team spirit. JOY And though they are helpful, research shows that in just weeks after returning to work, the bumps in productivity and morale return to their pre-retreat levels. So what’s missing? How do we turn these retreats into not only an experience, but a lasting, treasured memory? ALLISON The key to improving long-term employee morale isn’t just work satisfaction, it’s life satisfaction. And that comes not only from a great work life but from spending time with the people we love. JOY So, how do we bring it all together? ALLISON Camp Viewpoint started out as a summer camp for kids, so why not embrace those roots? JOY Instead of employees coming up here alone, they bring their families and share the experience. MILO During the day, the employees come together for regular retreat activities, while their spouses and kids enjoy summer camp activities in another part of the camp. ALLISON And at night, everyone comes together. MILO The facility is more than large enough to accommodate the two parts. JOY And the additional guests would increase profits and even fund some underprivileged youth programs during the slow season. ALLISON Over the last week, we’ve all come to realize what a special place this is. Sharing it with loved ones makes it even more special. After all, this is about building a team and what stronger team is there than family? Camp Viewpoint: Not work life, not home life, just life. NATHAN Thank you. Now comes the hard part, choosing just one. I’ll announce the winning presentation at the farewell barbecue tonight. VANESSA Congratulations, that was... different. ALLISON What did you think? BRYCE It was a good first effort. ALLISON A good first effort? BRYCE It was a little sentimental for a business crowd. I think this place may be getting to your head. ALLISON What’s that supposed to mean? BRYCE Just that I think you may be losing your edge. This isn’t you Allison. The sooner we get home, the better. ALLISON I think it’s me Bryce, more me than I have been in a while. And if you don’t like this me, maybe this isn’t going to work between us. BRYCE This is because of that guy isn’t it, your old “friend”. ALLISON This isn’t about Cody, Bryce. This is about us, you and me, and it isn’t working. BRYCE Look, it’s been a crazy week, you just had a big presentation that probably didn’t go as well as you’d hoped, but now’s not the time to make rash decisions. Let’s just get ready for dinner and we’ll talk when we’re back home. ALLISON Bryce. BRYCE When we’re home. JOY Nice job in the presentation today. MILO Thanks. I really liked what you came up with for the-- Joy. JOY Are you okay? MILO Yeah, I’ve just never seen you dressed up before. Are you wearing makeup? JOY Yes, I felt like wearing it for a change. Is it too much? MILO No, no. You look... very nice. NATHAN Good evening, everyone, and welcome to the end of the retreat and the farewell barbecue. NATHAN For our final project, five teams came up with marketing campaigns for this camp. Each team had a very unique take, reflecting their own individual approach. While any of them would have made an impressive and effective campaign, I felt one stood out from the rest. Allison? ALLISON What? BRYCE Go. NATHAN Marketing is about finding the heart of the product and Allison took that heart and turned it into a campaign that was innovative, creative and poignant. Congratulations. ALLISON Thank you, Nathan, for your support and guidance. Of course, I would be lost without my team, Milo and Joy. ALLISON It’s been an amazing opportunity and a wonderful week. ALLISON Cody. Cody stops and turns around. CODY Congratulations. ALLISON You left before I got to talk to you about the campaign. Didn’t you like it? CODY No, I loved it. CODY In fact, I want to ask you something. ALLISON Okay. CODY Not here. Let’s go outside. VANESSA Are you going to see Allison? BRYCE Yeah. VANESSA Can you give this to her? It fell out of her materials. I’m sure she wants it back. CODY I have a big decision to make, but before I do, I need to ask you something. BRYCE Hey! ALLISON Cody! ALLISON What are you doing?! BRYCE What are you doing? BRYCE I knew he was the reason you’ve changed. ALLISON That was a long time ago. BRYCE Doesn’t look like it’s in the past. ALLISON We were just talking. BRYCE Just think about what you’re giving up before you throw it all away. CODY This never happened at the kid’s camp. ALLISON C’mon, I’ll get you cleaned up. CODY Ow! ALLISON Don’t be a baby. I got certified for first aid at this camp. ALLISON Bryce really got you good. CODY Yeah, he really knows how to throw a punch. Does he beat up a lot of your ex-boyfriends? ALLISON I should have told him about us when we got here. He thought there was still something between us. CODY So there’s nothing between us? ALLISON I don’t know. ALLISON I have to go. CODY Allison, come back. ALLISON It’s late. CODY No, come back to the camp. ALLISON What? CODY Your marketing presentation was brilliant. It could really work. A retreat for adults and a camp for kids. It’s the best of both worlds. ALLISON You want me to leave my job and come back here? CODY We’ll be partners, we’ll build it up together. I can’t do it alone. You’ll be doing something you love and making a difference. ALLISON I can’t come back. I have a whole life out there. CODY But you’re alive up here. Everyone can see it. ALLISON It was a work retreat. We both just got caught up in the past. CODY You know that’s not true. Come back. We belong up here. ALLISON I do love this camp, and I’ll always have feelings for you, but I can’t. We made our choices a long time ago. DAN Well, well... another week comes to an end. ALLISON It was good seeing you again, Dan. I’m going to miss you. DAN That’s the hard part about working at a camp. People come and you make wonderful friends and then everybody packs up and says goodbye. DAN It was good having you back. Things are definitely more interesting with you around. ALLISON Bye, Dan. ALLISON Junk... Junk... Somebody else’s junk... DAN The next group is here. CODY I’ll be right there. NATHAN Got a minute? ALLISON Sure. NATHAN We just landed a new client. Epicurean Fresh Frozen Entrees. This is a major feather in our cap and our top priority. ALLISON You can count on me. I’ll pitch in however you need. NATHAN Good, because I want you run the campaign. ALLISON You want me to be the Lead Exec? NATHAN You’ve handled plenty of accounts, I’ve seen how you work. And you really impressed me on the retreat. NATHAN You’ve worked hard to get here. This is your moment. ALLISON You can count on me. NATHAN I know I can. ALLISON Start working on some ad slogans and concept art. The focus is family, convenience and home. JOY Are you okay? ALLISON I’m fine. Let’s get to work. LAURIE Hi. ALLISON Laurie! What are you doing here? LAURIE Just returning some files to the office. Plus, it was a good excuse to get out of the house. ALLISON Here, sit down. ALLISON You came back and got more work? LAURIE I realized I was pouring myself into work because I was nervous about having the baby, but Scott and I had a good talk. ALLISON So you’re not nervous any more? LAURIE No, I still am. But we’re sharing the anxiety. LAURIE (CONT’D) What are you working on? ALLISON Epicurean Fresh Frozen Foods. Nathan made me Lead. LAURIE You’re the lead? That’s fantastic. You’re sure to make Senior Executive after this. ALLISON Yeah. LAURIE I can see how excited you are. ALLISON No, I am. It’s just... Cody asked me to stay. LAURIE When? ALLISON The last night at the camp. He wants to bring kids back and asked me to be part of it. LAURIE What did you say? ALLISON What could I say? I’m not a kid anymore, my whole life is here. LAURIE So? Allison, you have to follow your heart. ALLISON But my career is finally on track. I just got everything I wanted. LAURIE Just because it’s everything you wanted, doesn’t mean it’s everything you want. LAURIE Ooh. ALLISON Let me help. I’m sure it’s getting hard to move around? LAURIE No, that’s not it. I think the baby’s coming. ALLISON Just keep breathing. The nurse will be back in a minute. SCOTT Am I too late? ALLISON No, you’re right on time. SCOTT These are for you. LAURIE Aw, that’s sweet. Now, put them down and hold my hand! CODY Yes, the contract’s fine. Everything’s in order. CODY Sounds good. I’ll see you soon. DAN So, it’s final? You’re selling the camp? CODY Looks that way. DAN Are you sure that’s what you want? CODY It’s what I have to do. I’ve been holding on to the past too long. ALLISON He’s an angel. LAURIE I know. It’s been exhausting, but when I watch him sleep, I forget about all the sleep I’m not going to be getting anymore. SCOTT I’m going to go get something other than hospital food. Do you want anything? LAURIE Two of whatever you’re having. ALLISON Your whole life is going to be different. LAURIE That’s how it goes. Things change and you just have to jump in with both feet. Know what I mean? ALLISON Are you talking about yourself or me and Cody? LAURIE I’m just being your friend. ALLISON I’ve worked so hard to come this far. I can’t give it up now. LAURIE Well, as a wise person once told me, don’t be afraid of what you’re giving up, think of everything you’re getting in return. BRYCE Working late? ALLISON Just putting the finishing touches on the presentation. BRYCE Big day tomorrow. I’m sure you’re going to do great. ALLISON Thank you. BRYCE I wanted to apologize for how I acted on the retreat. I was jealous and afraid of losing you. ALLISON I’m sorry, too. I should have been honest with you from the start. BRYCE Maybe after the presentation tomorrow we can go to dinner and talk things out. ALLISON Bryce, I think you’re a great guy, but I don’t think you’re the right guy for me anymore. BRYCE Well, I’m disappointed, but I can’t say I‘m surprised. I never saw you as happy as you were on the retreat. BRYCE It’s funny how the biggest hearts only have room for one other person. BRYCE Don’t work too late. ALLISON Have you seen the projection analysis? JOY Right here. JOY Allison Sinclair’s office. Oh, hi. Just a moment. JOY Allison, I have-- ALLISON Take a message, please. JOY I’m sorry, can I take a message and have her call you back? DAN Please let her know I called. Thank you. CODY How do I look? DAN Better. What time is your appointment? CODY He’ll be here in a couple hours. I think I’ll take a walk around the grounds until he arrives. DAN Let me know if you need anything. MILO Whoops. JOY I’ll get that. MILO Um, after the presentation, do you maybe want to get some coffee or something? JOY Sure. MILO Great. ALLISON “Good afternoon, my name is Allison Sinclair.” NATHAN Ready to go? ALLISON I keep thinking something terrible is going to happen. Like one of those dreams where you go to school in your underwear. NATHAN You’re going to be great. The pitch is top-notch. ALLISON I guess I’m just nervous. NATHAN That means you care. This is a big moment. After today, you’re going to be on the fast track. Your whole life is going to change. CODY Good afternoon. Welcome. STEVEN Thank you. I’m glad we’re finally able to finalize this deal. CODY Sorry I’ve been dragging my feet. Some circumstances were keeping me busy. STEVEN This area is just breathtaking. I can see why you love it. CODY C’mon, we’re all set up inside. ALLISON “Epicurean Fresh Frozen Entrees. We’ll take care of dinner so you can take care of what really matters.” DAN Camp Viewpoint. ALLISON Dan, it’s Allison. DAN Allison. I’m glad you called. ALLISON I got your message. Is everything all right? DAN Not exactly. Do you remember that contract Cody had for the land developer? ALLISON Yeah? DAN Well, Cody’s meeting with him now. He’s selling the land and they’re going to turn it into a resort. ALLISON What? DAN He’s closing the camp. I thought you should know. JOY They’re on their way. STEVEN We’ll have five hundred rooms, including seventy-three guest suites. Indoor and outdoor pools, gourmet restaurants... CODY It looks so... different. STEVEN We want to integrate with the setting to provide the ultimate outdoor experience for people who still want the luxury of the indoors. NATHAN Ready to dazzle? ALLISON Nathan, I’m sorry. I can’t do this. NATHAN What do you mean? What’s wrong? ALLISON You’ve been a teacher and a mentor and you’ve given me an amazing opportunity. But you asked me to show you what’s in my heart and it’s just not here anymore. ALLISON But I’m not leaving you in a lurch. There’s someone very capable who can take over. ALLISON Joy, you know this left and right. VANESSA Are you kidding? She’s an assistant. ALLISON But she knows the material, Vanessa. You don’t. Nathan, she can do it. NATHAN Are you ready? VANESSA This is crazy, Nathan. NATHAN It’s my decision, Vanessa. Joy? JOY I’m ready. NATHAN Then it’s all yours. ALLISON Good luck. NATHAN Where are you going? ALLISON To camp. STEVEN All we need is your signature and we’ll get the first installment to you. STEVEN Congratulations. You’re about to become a rich man. ALLISON Wait! CODY Allison? ALLISON Don’t do it. CODY What? ALLISON You can’t sell the camp. It means too much to you. It means too much to me. CODY Then why did you leave? ALLISON I made a mistake. I was afraid of giving up a career, but I forgot about what really mattered. CODY What about Bryce? ALLISON He wasn’t right for me. I’m looking for someone a little more rugged. CODY Well, you’re too late. The developer left an hour ago. ALLISON What? CODY I couldn’t do it. ALLISON You didn’t sell? CODY What am I going to do with a bunch of money? I’m a camp counselor. CODY You know, if we’re going to do this, we’re going to need a good marketing executive. ALLISON Lucky for you, I know someone who’s looking for a job. DAN I’m sorry, we’re all filled up for the next six months. We have a couple openings after that. If you’re interested, you should take them now. They’re filling up quickly. ALLISON You did great. I am so proud of you. CODY Hey, nice going. You finally got her to try the rock wall. ALLISON She was scared of heights, but I told her that sometimes the things that look the scariest turn out to be the best decisions you ever make. CODY Nice. ALLISON Also, I told her that’s how I met my fiance. CODY Can you fill in down at the company retreat for a little bit? I have a meeting with some developers. ALLISON What developers? CODY Just a little remodel I’m doing on our cabin. ALLISON Our cabin? CODY Well, mine and my wife’s.
